Does Joe Rogan actually know that much about professional kickboxing?

He knows how to make money. I would embellish on everything if it would do the same for me.

Just about nobody knows anything about sport Muay Thai. I've come across only a few people on the Internet who I think have any kind of knowledge.

I was just watching the same Podcast a couple of hours ago, he sounded like he had never even heard of Somluck Khamsing.

I don't know much about either sports, but I know enough to know that he knows very little.

Which podcast?

I know people who know JCVD from before he was a Hollywood actor. He's a running joke and his record is severely mocked.

I kinda like him though and he's good at what he does.

That's exactly what I thought... like even guys I know who don't even follow Thai boxing or "kickboxing" but know a bit, recognize those guys as well...

Honestly, I'm starting to assume he ignores any thaiboxer or kickboxer of colour.

Because I noticed in many podcasts he's either clueless or intentionally chooses to ignore thaiboxers when he's talking about the best strikers in kickboxing or muay thai.

Basically.

The guys knowledge of Muay Thai extends too Lion Fight and stops there.

Doubt he's ever watched an authentic Thaiboxing match straight from the Stadiums ever in his life.

did you seriously make an account to nut hug on Van Damme?

Glory, Lion Fight and BARELY K1 (despite what he thinks) I noticed he doesn't know that much.

The only thaiboxer he seems to know is Buakaw and I remember him thinking van Roosmalen was the best lightweight kickboxer even though at the time he had a controversial win over Sitthichai (everyone who watched knows Sitthichai won that... and also Sitthichai just won the rematch).

He does realize there are kickboxers and thaiboxers outside of Glory and that John Wayne Parr isn't the only thai fighter right?

I don't know if he's legit, I just brought him up because it led to Joe Rogan talking about other thaiboxers and kickboxers.

I think that statement bought him a new car.

I remember him praising Ronda's striking ability, it was hilarious.

I mean I think Ronda's amazing... but her stand up isn't the best...

I'm watching one of his podcasts now and they were talking about Jean Claude Van-Damme. At some point he came across the name Jomhod Kiatadisak, it was his first time ever coming across this thai fighter and couldn't even pronounce his name.

I understand if you can't pronounce his name but it was defniitely his first time seeing the name before, for someone who likes to talk about things like Glory and acts like he knows a lot about kickboxing (since he was criticizing Jean Claude Van Damme's record)...

For someone who doesn't even know one of the legends of Muay Thai and Kickboxing in general, is he in any real position to be criticizing Van Damme.

Not only that but if he doesn't even know someone like Jomhod, why the fk does he always talk about kickboxing as if he's well-versed in it?

UPDATE: I just wanted to point out that I don't think JCVD has a legit record but I'm probably wrong considering I never really looked into it deeply.

I just found it weird that he would talk about Ramon Dekkers wrecking all these Thaiboxers in his prime when Ramon Dekkers essentially lost the majority of his fights against Thaiboxers. Although, RIP Dekkers. Fking legend.
Rogan was a 3 or 4 time Massachusetts State TKD champion and also competed in 2-3 kickboxing bouts.

There are A LOT of legends in kickboxing, i'm sure there are top level kickboxers that have no idea who that thai guy is too.

Badr Hari is not of color? Rogan talks about him, Hoost and Manhoef all the time...

Didn't he call Ronda's kickboxing "world class" or am I thinking of someone else?

are you surprised? most fans of thai boxing cant even properly pronounce the names of most thai fighters lol. My friend is a big fan of Buakaw, and used to call him "Bukka" lol..... took me ages to realise he was talking about Buakaw lol
