Does it feel like the era of invincible champs is over?

I think what we're dealing with here is TS has been an mma fan long enough now to FINALLY realize no one is unbeatable but is now thinking it's only because of the times lol. Last time I thought this was probably Vitor in the early UFC's before Randy smashed him...when I was a kid.

Btw Bj defended his belt 3 times. He was not a dominant long reigning champ. Jesus Izzy is 20-1 and has defendes his belt more times than Penn did his entire career.

In MMA fights, Adesanya has a record of 22-1.

Also, it seems to me like you're criticizing Penn's MMA fights. I hope that you're not doing that.

If you want to use Penn as an example and compare his career to Adesanya's, there is no comparison. In MMA fights, Adesanya went to the Light Heavyweight Division a grand total of 1 time. So far, Adesanya has never had MMA fights in the Heavyweight Division.

Penn had MMA fights in divisions that he had no business in. There was one time when Penn had an MMA fight against Machida. Penn weighed 191 lb and Machida weighed 225 lb for that encounter.

The Heavyweight Division is 206 lb - 265 lb. That means that Machida was officially a Heavyweight in that MMA fight.

As more and more time passes, I'm rather certain that folks will continue to forget the insane (and unnecessary) risks Penn took. To be specific, there was no reason for him to keep accepting more and more contracts in divisions that were way heavier than he was ever supposed to be.

For Heaven's sake, Penn even had MMA fights in the Featherweight Division (which is 136 lb - 145 lb).

Edgar vs. Penn 3 was in the Featherweight Division.

Rodríguez vs. Penn was in the Featherweight Division.

Siver vs. Penn was in the Featherweight Division.

Every time a fighter loses,you swear it turns some mma fans' lives upside down

"oh this wrestler lost,does this mean wrestling is over in mma?"

"oh this brazilian guy lost,does this mean brazilians era of dominance is over in mma?"

"Oh this invincible champ lost does this mean no one will hold titles for a long time?"

"oh all the marketable fighters are gone,or not as good,does this mean the end for MMA?"

Always asking questions that could never be answered by anyone. Always impatient to just wait and see. People always cried and made babies everytime a star lost or was on the decline. Heralding the end of MMA when we lost chuck,and Randy. Yeah boy MMA sure ended after that,didnt it?

In closing,stop fuckin crying and asking dumbass unanswerable questions. These arent even worth thinking about.

Penn,like Conor,Ronda,Couture Etc have atypical careers. It wouldnt be fair to judge numbers as they were fast tracked to title shots multiple times,and switched around between weight classes.

If you compare that to the way a normal fighter gets there,its completley different.

Don't remind me of McGregor. I always celebrate every single time that McGregor loses MMA fights.

Even with all the times that someone has annihilated McGregor, there's still a chance that the UFC will make Oliveira vs. McGregor for the UFC Lightweight World Championship.

Well in this case I wouldnt say entitled,although you could link this attitude to that in some cases...but really its this cynical attitude that almost any result seems to threaten the future of the sport,fighter,style,or length of dominance going forward. This even goes to the teams. If a team is dominant for 10 yrs straight,and then have a run of bad luck,the fans are like "wow this team sucks now" and act as if they were never good,and were just lucky with the fighters they had,and that the sport has passed them by? REALLY? I didnt know fight teams must always win forever,fighters and coaches dont get old.

No Justin deserves it. Im just saying that if UFC felt like it,they could give Conor title shots every fight for no reason. If they could find a way to sell it, they would. They dont care about Justin,theyd trade 10 justins for a half a conor
 
TS is right in the sense that you never felt like the contenders had a chance. Fedor, Anderson, and GSP had the perception of destroying everyone in their path. You can even see it in the odds. They were typically at least around -400 to -500 betting favorites and sometimes it was completely lopsided.

You had to experience it to understand. There was an aura that something completely crazy needed to happen in order for them to lose. That hasn't really been the case since, except for Jones. BJ spent time going up and down so it wasn't easy to build the same momentum, but he was still up there.

Those three were also truly dominant in that they wouldn't just eek out close decisions. Most of the time it was complete domination or embarrassment. It will be a long time before we see that level of dominance at the same time again.
