Does GSP's return hurt Rory's chances of resigning

I think Bellator is a good option. Auto pay raise even if it's a slight raise. Wins 1st fight, wins title in 2nd fight, defends twice and he's right back in the UFC in title talks.
Im honestly not against this. Hes got his 1st kid coming. Its time to be concerned about the future for him. If bellator gives him more money its just the right choice.

But if not hes in a bit of a pickle with where he stands in the ufc title picture.

Obviously losing to Thompson doesn't help rory's negotiating at all but does the return of Georges hurt his resigning even more? Since gsp left the UFC, the UFC has had to fill the void of the Canadian Market it once had because of gsp. They had Rory, who isn't the biggest draw but is a Canadian superstar that could be on those cards to help market but now that gsp wants to come back, that spot and money could be spent on an even bigger draw and a legitimate superstar. How much does it hurt him? I don't mind gsp coming back and I hope rory re-signs

Makes no difference, either way. GSP's comeback has nothing, to do with Rory's situation. Rory will most likely go to another org and GSP will fight 1-2 fights and then retire.

I'm not saying BJ and Couture's accomplishments aren't incredible, but it must be said that they would not get even one title between them against today's Champs. The reason these 'New Era' guys haven't replicated such success is because there are so many other New Breed guys out there to compete with.

M’eh,

All this new breed talk is crap.

We see guys from a decade ago and more still competing at the top of this sport and beating this so called “New Breed” that they are not supposed to be able to compete against. As people bleat on about the New Breed guys like Lawler, Werdum and Aldo keep winning and competing at the top.

And when you bring that up the ‘new breed’ folks say ‘oh, well those guys just adapted’. Ok, so if those guys could adapt when faced with a higher level, what makes you think prior greats would have not too if they competed in this era?

Here is the thing about the new breed. There has not be any clear advancement at the very top of the sport. The best guys have not shown to be measurably better than the prior best guys. Where the improvement has been substantial in MMA is in the ranks below the best guys. In those ranks the amount of training guys are now getting compared to prior years because they can make a living fighting, has been substantial. That is the big difference because in the past only the top guys made enough money to really train and fight fulltime and focus on their health and nutrition.
