Dana was worried at one time about the UFC's bottom line when a fighter would say some dumb shit in public, so at one time, there would be punishment. But this is no longer the case- Dana now realizes he can even beat up his wife on video and nothing happens. MMA is different than other sports leagues- it doesn't depend on being reputable to increase how much money it makes.
Freedom of speech is irrelevant in private orgs like the UFC; they aren't the government so they can punish people for what they say; the first amendment only applies to government. So it isn't that Dana's hands are tied because of free speech; he is choosing to not take action in these cases (in contradiction to what he used to do).
