Just curious. I was flipping through the channels, saw that the WPT was on, and turned it on.

But it's the first time I've watched poker in years.

I'm sure we all remember the poker boom from the mid-00s. It seemed like everybody watched the shit then and many people played. I don't hear much about it anymore though. I guess it was just a fad in terms of mainstream popularity.

It was a fad like pro rasslin before it and MMA after it

I still watch it pretty regularly
Poker After Dark is a good show
Heartland Poker Tour always gives me the itch to go back into it because those tourneys are around the level I was playing in during the boom period
This years WSOP Main Event table was really entertaining until they got down to the final 3

I used to be able to watch like a little over an hour of it, but then i would always pass out late at night when it was on NBC. Great tool for insomniacs imo. I used to love that guy who wore a cowboy hat vs that vietnamese and Iranian dude.

I used to watch it back when I played online and was focused on improving my strategy. Nowadays I don't play online thus I am not as interested in strategy.

Once my play decreased, I realized how boring it is to watch poker on TV and not be a part of things.

Pretty sure the bill banning online poker in the US hurt those shows

What I noticed about poker's popularity lines up exactly with Google analytics https://www.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&geo=US&q=/m/05r1j

I remember it being huge '04-'06. I used to watch poker after dark years ago. I could still watch it but there is only so much time in the day and there is more content today than ever in history so I would never watch it.

Never plan on watching it but when I catch it on TV I watch. I play alot tho, so I am interested.

Does anyone still watch golf?

Interesting. That's quite a decline.

Just the impression I get is that it's still more popular now than it was before the boom, but pretty much everyone who is still into it are fairly hardcore about it. I'm not sure how many casual poker fans there are now.

No idea why, but have been watching poker clips of the pro's on Youtube for the last few weeks

Few things beat a Hellmuth blow up.

Used to play and watch a lot around my College days. 2008-11 maybe.

Not anymore though.

I suppose no poker thread would be complete without a mention of Rounders. Hell of a movie.

Someone give me three stacks of high society.
