Does anyone else hate Chinese food?

I'm just curious how you differentiate between westernized Chinese food and authentic Chinese food. Obviously the ethnicity of the cook has nothing to do with it.

Well for starters it taste completely different. There are a few dishes we cook the same, a couple would be Kung Pao chicken(not nearly as specie ), Fried rice, beef broccoli.

this thread reminds me of this scene from no reservations where an american family and a chinese family sitting next to each other in the same restaurant are eating very different things.

I live in Los Angeles and good Chinese food is incredibly difficult to find unless you are in a Chinese dominant area like Alhambra. Little Hong Kong Caf

depends what kind of Chinese food we talking bout here; americanize chinese food or chinese chinese food?

You can actually test the quality of Chinese food just from eating their version of egg drop soup.
Egg drop soup is supposed to be prepared as simplistic as possible.
A few places I went to in the past had rice, snow peas, baby corn or broccoli with the egg drop soup which made the quality of food from the rest of the menu turn out to be shit.

just saw the title of this thread on the main page but it cut off the "food." was coming in here to hate on some chinese...but no, their food is good.

LA sucks for real Chinese food. Probably something you'd have to go to Frisco for.

I hate it. Every time I have ever had it I just want to lay down and die.

i never eat your typical chinese takeout anymore. but i'll tear up some pf changs

I don't hate it but i'm not a fan. I didn't like most of the Chinese food that i've tried

Hate's a strong word. I almost always regret eating it, since it typically precedes or follows a drinking binge and exacerbates the hangover

I grew up just like Bourdain did with fried rice, eggrolls, wonton soup, chowmein, ect; I know it's not authentic but I still love all of that stuff. Say what you'd like but that food was developed for the American palate and they did a damn good job.

When I was a little kid my family exclusively ordered from a chinese restaurant on LI. One day the place closed down because it was a front for a gambling operation (lulz) but to this day I still haven't found a place that's up to par.
