Does anyone else hate Chinese food?

greasy, tasteless crap. would never order chinese takeout if I could help it

I used to love it when I was younger, but now I despise it. I feel like crap every time I eat it. It's like the lowest quality meat possible, and loaded with preservatives. How is this stuff so popular?

Find a different takeout place with higher quality and higher standards. I used to live in Flushing NYC about a month ago (the Chinatown in Queens), and yes each restaurant will have different quality. I am talking about takeout places. Maybe if you find a sit down restaurant that delivers you can possibly find higher quality.

I now live in a Hispanic neighborhood. This is a lower income so the restaurants are not all high quality, but there are some that have great food, even though they serve the same cuisine. There are differences in quality across all the ethnic cuisines.

I get soup or steamed shrimp and broccoli

steamed chicken is ok too

put a little soy sauce or duck sauce on it ...good to go

Also you can tell them to not use oil on most of the dishes. Try ordering brown rice instead of white because it is better for you.

I also wanted to add that quality is not always taste, but ROI for the business owner. Chinese takeout is like McDs and Subway, heck, they may even be more prolific. The other Asian cuisines like Japanese or Korean could never do this. They have to offer what seems like more money's worth like charging 5 or more dollars for a single piece of sushi. However there are upscale Chinese cuisine restaurants

Lots of places will put MSG and too much salt in the dishes. A lot of the chinese food, assuming you're in North America, is also "westernized". They think we like it fried, so everything gets saturated in oil, deep fried, extra batter etc...

Go to "real" chinese restaurants if your city has them. The difference is night/day.

I'm also married to a chinese woman....so I'm sick of the food too.

The Chinese put tons of MSG in their own food too. They call it 'weijing'.

Stuff that's not cooked by Mexicans? I don't know why you'd ask that i know what it is.

I'm just curious how you differentiate between westernized Chinese food and authentic Chinese food. Obviously the ethnicity of the cook has nothing to do with it.

i eat it every now and then, but always feel like crap after.

won ton soup is good though.

I've probably never had legit Chinese food, but whatever I eat from the places around here destroys me. It's worse than booze. I actually wake up more often swearing off Chinese food than I do alcohol. Of course, I'm getting old :icon_neut

Nope. There have been some really shitty places where I've eaten but I could never hate Chinese food. Authentic or Americanized. I do hate their seafood dishes though. But that's universal for all cuisines. I just hate seafood period.

Find a more authentic restaurant to eat at or be daring and cook the food yourself to your own tastes.

I actually love Chinese, Korean and Japanese food more then Filipino food and Im Filipino, for some reason I like the flavour, texture and general presentation of these foods, and even prefer them over American or European food.

In my town there are restaurants owned by Chinese Citizens and they sell crappy food any food done by them is so sub standard and a total rip off. There are good Chinese restaurants though but recently a lot of start ups are just cheats their breaded pork chop has more bread than the pork.
