Does anybody dispute the argument that Stipe is the UFC HW GOAT?

I’m assuming everyone agrees with this belief. But if not, what’s your argument for who the UFC HW GOAT is?

Stipe has less HW championship belts than both Sylvia and Couture.
Stipe has an equal amount of HW championships as Cain and the exact same amount of top 10 and top 5 wins.

Why exactly is he the UFC HW GOAT, outside of recency bias?

He's certainly one of the better HW fighters over the years though.

I mean it's a tough sell when DC finished him in 1 round. Basically makes it look like DC could have been HW champ at any time had it not been for his friendship with Cain. He may be the most accomplished though. I think it's between Cain, JDS, and Stipe. DC would need a few defenses to climb up the ladder.

Longest title reign, and most significant wins. He’s KO’d JDS, Arlovski, Overeem, AND Werdum. He’s better than Cain, Sylvia, and Couture. Cain’s spent half of his prime years injured, and during his prime years, he fought JDS and Bigfoot a combined total of 5 times.

I’m a huge fan of Cain, but Stipe is a greater HW, and has done more, imo.

He just got KO’d by DC, and that looks bad, I get it. But that doesn’t mean he’s not the UFC GOAT.

I mean, if he isn’t, than who is? Also, Stipe does not get enough credit for beating Ngannou. That was a huge win, and at the time, Ngannou was a scary SOB. It’s easy to discredit the win in hindsight.

Aye, and Stipe has the most HW title defenses. There *are* arguments for him being the current #1 (if we're retroactively going back, years from now.)

I'm curious to see how many times DC can/will defend the title.

Most dominate heavyweight champ in recent history due to title defenses. If Stipe can get on the comeback and reclaim his title and become a two time UFC heavyweight champion then he will have a bigger claimed the legendary “ GOAT “ title lol.

Yes he has the most HW title defenses for sure but in what era. Right now the HW division is in a serious decline and hes fighting a bunch of fighters way past their prime and post USADA and Im sure you know what I referring to there.

He had the greatest championship reign in UFC HW history.

He is not the greatest HW in MMA history, nor is he the greatest HW to compete under the UFC banner.

DC is 14-0 at HW, granted no title defenses but he has 5 top ten wins in Mur, Barnett, Stipe, Nelson and Bigfoot. If DC defends just once or twice he will overtake him.
