Does a touch count as a strike ?

this is exactly what Brock did in rd 2 of the Hunt fight
he was just pawing at Hunt's face with an open hand trying to make it look like a jab

he was actually putting his fingers in mark eyes. The referee warned him twice and hunt also complained once about it.

a slap is a strike... if it is snapped.

But see I don't think these things are defined. I don't think it says in the rule book a slap has to "snap" I don't think they define a "blow"

In some martial arts poking with two fingers is a strike so I honestly think you could get away with it.... Brock was open hand pushing Hunt's head back and it counted as a blow.

So would this??? It looks good though it does not much damage, and you could run around and do this all over the body for 3 RDs and prolly win

It seems to work for Frankie Edgar - well until his last fight. But no not all strikes are equal so who gives a fuck? the judges were smart enough to recognize they did no damage and just were an effort to score points.

There's been many other times where this has worked tho. Can't think of any of top of my head but.

I wasn't referencing that fight or any specific one just wondering in general because I don't think it outlines anywhere that you can't just touch and run.

brock ''hand pushing'' didn't count as strikes. And it doesn't have to be in a book. Some things are left to the referee judgement what qualifies a thing as a strike. But the principle is simple.... A strike is a blow, pushing or touching is not.

How do you know, did you see the score sheet, make a count and compare ?

I'm pretty sure they counted those open palm push-aways he did to Hunt's forehead to keep him away. An open hand strike can hurt actually. But it can also be silly and just used to get points, like in point sparring in some martial arts.

Your own name indicated you think a finger can KO.
