Do you tip on takeout orders?

If no Host is on the floor then yes the waiter has to keep an eye on the door and if his section is in another part of the house it makes it even worse. Add the fact that when you show up you trump everything the server is doing to get you payed out and on your way....Do you really think it would be that simple/fast for you to pick up food if people didn't bust ass to get your food ready to go? Its easier to bring it to a table then to get it ready for a 2go order....So from all the servers who waited on you...Thanks for nothing shit head and you should go to a fast food joint if your that broke.

Vegas/NM/Colorado All have this kind of wage...It just went up in NM

Lol fuck off. I tip well when someone is actually serving me. I've never seen a waiter go away from tables to come bring me a bag of food. I always see someone else who's usually stationed there, answering phones, etc.

Sorry, handing me a bag is the exact same job that someone at McDonald's is doing. I'm making the trip, our interaction ends as soon as it begins. You aren't making that experience any better.

Just tipped the pizza girl (possibly posts in the Fatitude thread) $2.50.

That must be state to state because I know servers and their pay is not "matched up" to minimum wage if they have a bad day in tips. You have a bad day in tips around here..eff you..better luck tomorrow.

And it's $2.13/hr not $2.50 (to reflect half of minimum wage when min wage was $4.25)

Correct!
$2.13/ hr is the national average in the US
$2.50/hr is in New Yawk

But you still never served....Bartending isn't anywhere near the same...and food industry means fast food joints ....you are lying to kick it...stop
lol fuck no, I'd never work at a fast food joint. I've worked as a host at a upscale restaurant, and a Busboy at a mid tier restaurant. I've seen what servers do and what they go through, and you're making it out to be much harder than reality. Yeah you put up with shit customers on a daily basis, but that's what the job entails. It's a fast pace environment, have decent ppl skills, and don't be a bitch. You aren't pounding roofs mid day in 100 degree weather, you aren't scrubbing floors, hell even the ppl in the kitchen, especially the chief during rush hour work harder than majority of the servers. Guess what??? These guys don't get tipped. But wait... I wouldn't understand because of course I've never held the title "server." LOL. Dealt with plenty of servers, and have numerous friends that are servers, and shit isn't rocket science.

If I have to stand at a counter to order or pay for something, I don't tip.

Gotta love MB tipping threads

Do you give a tip for takeout orders? I tip on dine-in, but I haven't started tipping on takeout orders until a couple weeks ago. I'm talking about restaurant take outs, not fast food type places like Applebee's.

Absolutely not

If it's a place I frequent, I do. Otherwise I don't.

Those servers you know who are being exploited should have a serious chit chat with their boss/company. Wage theft is serious business, and illegal...

Nope. For dine in and delivery but never for takeout.

for deliveries yes

Hell no. Even more retarded is tipping car wash people. Seriously, I come to get my car washed and vacuumed, and I'm supposed to tip you for doing your job?? You and 3 other dudes vacuumed my 1x1 carpet mats, and wiped my windows, and expect 5 dollars in return on top of your hourly wage? lol gtfo with that noise.

I disagree.....Weather was beautiful today so I went to my local Auto Bell. These guys work their asses off! Place was slammed. I drive my Sequoia on the beach quite a bit so its caked in sand. $10 is my normal tip if they do a good job with a couple special requests for sand....in fact I usually grab a rag get in there too. The place was a fucking zoo and the kid did a great job.....I felt guilty not giving him more. It's just a couple bucks and the karma comes back around....

Take out...Not always, but I'll drop a couple bucks if I frequent the place.

20% standard random good service.

30+% on where I'm a regular and depending if I get hooked up.....

I'm no millionaire but I'm not destitute either and its all good!

Yes, pretty much always.

Bourdaine talks about this in Kitchen Confidential and points out that packaging your food and such does take time away from the server, hostess whatever. My wife and I were already on board before I read that but it reinforced to me that it's the "right" thing to do.

But then we both believe in spreading it around a bit as we do fairly well and if you can help someone out or help make their day then what's a few bucks on take-out?

Cheers! I agree 100%

Bunch of angry ass cheap fucks in this thread!

Yes, but less than if I dine in. Usually close to 10% takeout, 20% dine-in

They work at a restaurant. Packaging food or serving it is their fucking job.

I hate it when I'm at work and have to work
