The amount of pleasure seeking things we can do today compared to what it was back in the day even just 50 years ago is unreal.

The access of seeing sex or just seeing naked people compared to hundreds of years ago where they barely see any of it.

All thrill seeking activities we do nowadays, all the drugs, the hard music.

The access of sugar and excessively tasty food.

Everyone has a screen to look at now 24 hours a day. Stimulating our brains non stop with information and visual stimulation.

We're stimulated like no other than ever before in history.

I wonder how our brains will develop in the next 50 years.

I think our brains are going to explode or implode who knows.

It's less of a hit though. Nowadays we grow up seeing every hardcore porn imaginable. Back then just seeing a pixel of a nipple was exciting.

We are almost certainly the most over stimulated in human history. It's no wonder that the incidence of ADHD, stress and anxiety disorders, which are largely driven by stimuli, have gone up. I know this as well, basically being on a computer and multitasking since I was 9 years old, I am addicted to the stimuli and increasingly so. Most people don't like to get bored or sit around and do nothing, yet in the past they had little choice. Now, you can not only keep your mind occupied, you can do it instantly, without effort and ad nauseam.

If anything it's the opposite effect. It's like having access to a bunch of drugs and needing a larger dosage to feel a thrill. So you got a bunch of guys whose never been in a relationship and jerking off to porn all day and probably rarely leaves their bedroom

Yes. That's why it's good to be close to nature and to be able to just sit and look at the forest.
This. Disconnecting is great for the soul.

Gotta get back to the days when seeing a bare ankle and staring at an open fire was all the stimuli we needed.

Pretty much

People used to carve sticks and skip rocks for fun, now we have children that are prescribed amphetamines.

None of that compares to drugs. With weed becoming legalized, you are going to see more people throttling their dopamine system than ever before. Almost all pleasurable drugs do this. Alcohol does but not on the level of weed, which pales compared to meth and heroin. I wish I could find it now but there was a video on youtube where scientist was comparing the amount of dopamine released by various substances. alcohol was like a good night. Weed was like hitting a homerun. Then you got out to herion and meth and it was beyond events like witnesssing your first born or winning the lottery. Beyond anything that could ever happen in your real life.

It’s breaking people’s brains and leading to the further breakdown of society.

Voted "No" because this comes down to relative haves and have nots. For the majority in OECD countries, the answer is resoundingly yes. But the poorest segment of the world population (without internet, electricity or modern utilities) arguably isn't better off.

And the most privileged in past times could get their dopamine on without regard for human rights or risk of being me too'ed. Kings and royalty have gone insane from too much unrestricted sexual activity. Samurais could test out their new blades by slicing up the nearest peasant. Edward the Longshanks could bang Mel Gibson's onscreen waifu and life and death situations were commonplace. Even if you're a billionaire, you're not getting away with that shit today unless you're Kim Jong Un.

But the human psyche quickly gets de-sensitized to stimuli. Like a caffeine addict needing 10 cups of coffee to not feel like shit. Even if you're banging 10s and living the Sherdogger lifestyle, you're desensitized to it and may not feel more wired than Beaver Cleaver living dat middle class 50's lifestyle.

Well we certainly are pretty jaded. And i doubt that the amount of daily stimulation we have is good for us.

Yes true. The paradox is that we have a harder time concentrating.
