Do you think Usman retires before he faces Khamzat?

He’s already spoken about possibly retiring in the near future in interviews. I expect Khamzat to be near a title shot within the next year and a half.

Usman is recovering from hand surgery and won’t fight until at least late spring/summer. I can see him retiring after the Edwards fight claiming something like “I’ve cleaned out the division and there’s no challenge anymore”. Especially if Khamzat gets past Burns he’ll shit his jocks when he sees Khamzat rapidly approaching in the rear view mirror.

I very much doubt he would want to risk losing his WW GOAT claim by fighting Khamzat down the line. What do you think?

Khamzat has to first pass through Burns. Not an easy feat.
But even if he wins, Usman already beat Burns.

So if Khamzat beats Burns, he will either fight once more (if he doesn't want to wait for Usman) or get a title shot. This means they would still fight this year.

Usman did not hint or said he is retiring this year.
So why make such accusation just for the sake of trying to hype Khamzat (or hint Usman is afraid of him)???

I can see him retiring just because his knees are shot, he just had to get his hand done, and he's coming to the end of his competitive window. He'll be 35 before he fights again.

If Chimaev isn't next after Leon, it's easy to imagine Usman calls it a career before Chimaev gets his shot. It would be nice if he fought a contender before they rush him through to a title fight.

Usman isn't fighting Khamzat. Deep down, he already knows how that's going to go. He doesn't have the tools to beat Khamzat, unless Khamzat has a particularly gas tank. In every other way, Chimaev has proved to be the superior fighter already.
