Do you think sport is one giant money laundering scheme?

Money laudering supports more combat sports than harming it. How could you potentially care about it or dislike when it benefits your center of interests. It simply is not important.

Hunger and poverty are bigger problems than a shady guy trying to launder whatever he got from his network last month.

I find it extremely absurd that sport players earn tens to hundreds of million dollars for just running, punching and kicking a ball.

Sport players doesn’t contribute anything to society so I can't help but feel they're being used as a cover for money laundering for their billionaire owners.

Many sports are. F-1, Indy Car, most mma shows aside from the UFC, boxing and smaller soccer leagues are all laundering money.

There's a few YT video about it in auto racing.

especialy race based cheering tht is promenant in american sport blacks should fill athletic and strog parts of thta sport everybody else should fill less desireble positions in said sport or be 6th man or be position player and so on. stupid sports are american sport then when they create that notion how athletic positions are all taken byy blacks or best players are blacks some athlete come along jokic and doncic and you have bunch of people getting into race talk lol
Who the what?

Who the what?
Only country where they constantly talk about race is america in anything and where do they talk the most and what industries can they spread their message and ideology is American sports and Hollywood two things most visible to masses they are targeting.me it just irritates me just having to care about let alone be told who is best who is not

Nope. You say it, "doesn't contribute anything to society," but that is inaccurate.

People within society choose where they spend their money and time. As long people continue to spend that money and time on sportsball, sportsball players will keep getting paid ridiculous amounts of money.

They may choose, but that doesn't mean they choose well.

People spend tons of money on crap they don't need, unhealthy food that makes them obese, and poisons like cigarettes, heroin, meth, etc.

Yes, our economic system is seriously fucked up.
Yes, sports are a very easy place to see it failing badly.

But high salaries for players, because owners want it that way, because it helps them launder money?

Sounds like something a raging feminist would say. WNBA players deserves the same pay as the men, etc.

Supply and demand, generating revenue. If the players aren't getting huge salaries then the money generated will go to the owners. Your argument is counter intuitive.
Come on if all the population is paying taxes so men ballers can build a stadium and pay cable if they do not watch espn(espn charge no matter what 12 dollars for.their channel if people watch it or not) not just man tea. Should be paid respectable wage

I don't understand.

if people are not interested in sport in general have to pay tzes to build a new stadium or people who have interest in espn have to pay cable tier that has espn and pay 12 dollars just espn then people should pay women a fair wage not equal but fair

Let's put gender aside for a minute. If a sport isn't generating enough money to pay 'fair' wages, who should pay that 'fair' wage?

What the sum of individuals value as a whole is what that society values. If the examples you mentioned truly had no value to individuals, then individuals would stop giving up their resources (money, time, etc.) in exchange for those things. And it would no longer exist in that society.

There are plenty of societies that exist without heroine. This is because none of the individuals of those societies value heroine's dopamine effects enough to outweigh the consequences. But, if you live in a society where heroine is prevalent, then individuals value the gratification it gives them enough, regardless of the negative consequences, for it to become a part of that society.

Connected back to the original point of the thread, there are plenty of societies where athletes aren't paid a bazillion dollars a year. Because the individuals do not value watching sports enough for it to happen. It just so happens that some societies such as USA, England, etc. have enough individuals who value watching sports to the point that they give up enormous amounts of time and money in exchange for watching sports.

uh what? do you think the 20,000 people watching an NBA game live and paying average $300 for a ticket are AI generated or something? the players negotiate to get 50% of the revenue/profits. NBA games generate HUGE money. just on ticket sales alone. they sell 20,000 tickets, 40 games, that's 800,000 tickets. at $300 each (which might be low, floor seats are expensive) thats $240 million just in tickets. PER TEAM. and that's pennies compared to the TV deals.

Also, all the owners are already billionaires from other businesses. it isn't like they had 50K and "worked their way up" as a struggling small business NBA business mogul. think about it. that doesn't make any sense man. these people use the NBA as like a side hustle. they don't need to launder money, they own billions of dollars. maybe in regional leagues sure yeah. but the NBA??? they got money money.

Ask Daniel Snyder. And I’m sure he’s not the only one. They use their arenas for cash and then falsely claim sports money as being arena money so they don’t have to put it into the league revenue sharing pool

Did you quote the wrong person or something?

You're saying they don't need to launder money and I'm laughing at the idea of them needing to launder money.

Pizza is actually one of the most commonly used sources of money laundering.

Used to be because it was a "cash business"

These days I bet that most pizza places probably do the vast majority of their actual sales in credit... but it would still be pretty easy to just claim otherwise on the paperwork.

Also, at least back in the day 25 or so years ago when I worked at pizza places a lot of drugs move thru them.

A) the job requires long hours on your feet if you work the counter or as a pizza maker, so cocaine was quite popular. I'm sure this applies to things like meth and Adderall as well.

B) pizza drivers sometimes sell weed or pills as a side hustle. Quite easy to throw an extra stop on a multi stop delivery run

I run a shop

Most of this is true is/was true. Maybe some cash doesn't get reported but it's impossible t0 lie to the irs about the credit cards these days

But no one is doing any coke that I'm aware of and if I find out otherwise I'm going to be pissed as hell no one shared with me . Really coke was common where you worked ? My mind is blown by this. I've seen an insane amount of pizza shop drug use but I've never really seen widespread coke use at all. It's all addies.

Addies vape pens and pain pills are super duper common and I suspect every one of my drivers has at least 2 out of 3 on them at all times.

Yup.

Owner and manager of the back would dip into the bathroom, (1 at a time) come out energized. Also they watch a ton of porn in the back. Weird stuff. Midgets on one of the tapes. That place was pretty wild.

Plus every pizza place I ever worked for had at least 1 dealer on staff. (Going from memory of events in 1995- 2003 or so)
