Do you think Jones can handle a loss mentally?

Jones is taking a calculated risk fighting Stipe. It's Stipe, one of the best HWs ever, but it's 41 year old Stipe who was knocked out badly last time out and hasn't fought for over 2 years and 7 months and hasn't won for 3 years and 2 months. Jones took 10 years to move to HW. He admitted he would never fight DC at HW. He ducked Big Frank and is studiously avoiding Sergei Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall. He's talking about retiring after this fight.

But this is still Stipe we are talking about. Over the hill, inactive, but still an outstanding wrestler and boxer with heavyweight size and power, 6'4" with an 80" reach and used to knocking out high level heavyweights. This could go wrong for Jones. What if Stipe EMBARRASSES him and stops him in the first round? Jones has never really been defeated, avenged DQ notwithstanding. He is talented but he has also doped, cheated and cherry picked his way to where he is now. He also has a history of criminality including drug abuse and domestic violence.

What do you think he will do if he loses to Stipe? His cherry picked fight gone wrong, 36 and clearly past his best, both belts gone and he will have to get through Stipe/Aspinall/Pavlovich to get the HW strap back. His technical 0 gone. Would he take the loss gracefully, take the money and ride off into the sunset with tarnished legacy? Would he stick around as a 2nd tier HW? Would he go purple pillow like Ronda? Or have some kind of breakdown involving drugs and law enforcement? Maybe we will find out.

He lost to usada. Handled it well. Then lost again. And is still goat in sherdogs eyes. He's done pretty well.

NO. Jones spent the decade can crushing Manlets and gear. Gear despite God given talent and attributes. He is still so lacking in confidence that he will risk lifetime ban but usada is not good at the job. They run cover and corruption judges gift decisions.

Must KO or he gets freebies like Gus1, Santos, Reyes.

If Jones loses I almost guarantee you that there is an immediate rematch clause in his bout agreement.

If Jones wins, yes, I think there's a very real possibility that he immediately retires, but I would like him to "man up" and fight Pavlovich, Aspinall and any other strong heavyweights to prove to us that he is supposedly the GOAT.......

But I don't think Jones is mentally equipped to deal with losing an MMA fight.

Jones is about as good as it gets when it comes to mental toughness. Hate him all you want, this is just wishful thinking from you
it is so embarssing to see people constantly throw around the term "hater" here if you dont nutthugg a fighter to the absolute fullest.

p.s. the mental toughness GOD you speak of has said he intentionally fucked off and partied leading up to to title fights so he would have a built in excuse to lean on if he lost. so he could tell himself he wasnt at his best.

he also has been very open for years about only taking the right matchups at HW because "those guys are too big."

He handled his loss to Hamill in a very mature was so I assume he'll do the same if he losses again.

I'm sure he'll go on a coked up twitter rant at some point but that's pretty standard for him.
The way Matt was blocking those 12-6 elbows with his face could have broken Jon's elbow. I agree Jones handled that loss with grace.

Jon had no choice but to act with Grace otherwise Matt would have busted his elbow for real next time.

Part of me feels like he would be freed of the sport and probably move on with his life into something new. Another part of me feels like he would be an Avengers level threat in the state New Mexico. He would be Walter Black.

Jones fights to win and does his best to win. If he for some reason loses he may think it’s due to age and retire. He may be correct. He may fight once or twice more to make sure but fact is even if winning homie has one or two more probably. Also due to his heavy contract there is no way the UFC is going to let him do anything else but big fights. He won’t be that guy hanging around tending gate like Black Beast. Basically to answer your question the show is about over probably a loss wouldn’t bother him as much when he knows what he accomplished already

He's 36 now. He has matured. He hasn't had any issues in a long time. When was the last time he broke the law?
Just last year he was arrested for beating his wife up.

We're not going to find out, Jones is going to get him to the ground ridiculously easy.
