"Do You Think I Should Be Deported?"

I don't trust anything on CNN. Never know how they are going to edit these things.

Hard to argue against that. I don't watch any news. Persuasion is most effective via spoken word, especially when body language is visible. I don't think that's limited to CNN though.

Sticking to a positions and running with it. Not necessarily what trump is doing in the case of deportation.
Yes and if he doesn't I'll criticize him. Just like I don't like his economy policies or him flip-flopping on other issues.
I'm not Donald Trump by the way.

If she has a real job, no criminal record and her kids go to school, I'd have no problem with that person becoming a citizen.

No more free rides for non citizens though. Either you become a tax paying, contributing citizen of the states or you fuck off to where you came from, forcefully if need be. Enough is enough already. We shouldn't be made to feel bad because people steal from us and we don't like it.
you cant be on daca without a job or a criminal record . you cant even get federal welfare that you contribute to.

Is there a reason she could not apply for citizenship within 20 years?

Because she herself is a criminal who is here illegally? That's my guess. I think that would DQ you. She should have been cuffed and stuffed and deported, not allowed to ask a question of Paul Ryan. It's outrageous. We're in a bad spot.

Paul Ryan fielded some tough questions at the town hall the other night. The woman in the video was brought into the country as a child and has lived here for over 20 years. She asked Ryan if he thinks she should be deported. His response.

Short synopsis;
- No, he doesn't think she should be deported
- No mass deportation
- Trump team is focused on violent illegals

What do you guys think? This seems to directly contradict Trump's campaign promises of deporting 11 million illegals. I think many predicted this would occur from the onset.

UPDATE: I can't believe I need to add this, but since so many people failed to comprehend the point of the OP, I'll restate. The question isn't whether YOU believe the woman should be deported, it's whether or not what Paul Ryan says contradicts Trump's campaign promise to deport all illegals.

If we're expected to follow the letter of the law I'd say anyone who comes here knowingly in an illegal manner should get deported. A child who was brought here illegally with mom and dad and has some how made it into some "system" and is seemingly living life in a legal manner for two decades should be given some consideration towards citizenship.

I think this lady falls into the second category. Tell her what she must do to become a legal citizen and if she doesn't do it then she should be deported.

Speaking of which . . . has she become a citizen in those 20 years or not?

My biggest gripe with amnesty for illegal immigrants is that there are lots of stupid nonviolent crimes on the books. Why should illegal immigrants be granted amnesty but not, say, people with speeding tickets?

Are illegals with speeding tickets being deported?

Do states issue drivers licenses to folks here illegally?

Well, according to Paul Ryan and the Trump transition team, she is. Thus the thread.

Then why is that a problem?

She's apparently admitted to not pursuing citizenship so unless she becomes one she should go.

@lecter
But there might become a point where the man elected becomes just like the Men before him. What concerns me is his credibility being questioned. And whether or not he really knows what he's talking about, for example deportation, Russian sanctions and cyber security. All of which he has seemingly flipped a switch and changed his mind about, once given the information that policy and actual work can be done around, not just talking points.

There is a trend here, and he's not even president yet.

I don't think it's so much about agreeeing on deportation, but realizing that Trump is becoming more and more a politician everyday. Going back to The Who referance, "the new boss is same as the old boss."

It is the response the fake news network deserves. What a stupid fucking question that the fake news network (FNN) set up. When did Trump ever say anything about deporting legal citizens who have lived in the USA for 20 years? FNN is pushing a pathetic emotional appeal that is completely dishonest and has nothing to do with what Trump said.

I did not click on the video. I am not watching anything from CNN.

TURN OFF CNN

The criticisms I take the most seriously always come from the person who hasn't actually seen the thing they are criticizing.

you cant be on daca without a job or a criminal record . you cant even get federal welfare that you contribute to.
Maybe I'm misreading this.
Would you please clarify this statement?

Illegal status is not a felony.

Why do people still think that Trump wants to deport all immigrants? It's absurd.

you cant be on daca without a job or a criminal record . you cant even get federal welfare that you contribute to.

She IS a criminal. Has been for decades. A full-time student with no job and a misdemeanor offense for say pot doesn't qualify for DACA simply by saying they were brought here as a child? How about I call bullshit? Can I do that? Because that's bullshit as I understand it. Are you talking felonies?
And to that point, what do you think every single illegal in the country will say, regardless of if they are 20 or 30 or 60 years old?
"My parents brought me here when I was 5".
It's self-reporting or whatever. The honor system. Yeah, that will work well for us. I have a better idea.
GET OUT.
Her and anyone like her that is not a legal resident. Also, no citizenship EVER for these lawbreaking illegal invaders. Let's save that for those from all over the world who are worthy and do it the right way, no matter how long it takes or how much BS they have to go through. Which is a lot.
They should streamline that process, I'll say that much. Someone in the DR (or anywhere else) with marketable skills and such should not have to fool around for 8 or 10 years trying to get permission to get over here while people walk across our border every day, which is what is happening now.
But what she can do is GET OUT and then apply for a work permit or legal residency status, but none of these criminals should ever be allowed to become US citizens, IMO.

Maybe I'm misreading this.
Would you please clarify this statement?
if you are on daca you have to do all the requirements a legal immigrant does. pay taxes, not break the law, etc. but you also dont get the same benefits as a legal immigrant because you are still technically illegally here.

Then why is that a problem?

She's apparently admitted to not pursuing citizenship so unless she becomes one she should go.

I'm not the one arguing that she should, the Republican Speaker of the House is.
