You have prospects and then you have guys like Maddalena, Shavkat, Sandhagen. They'll fight if they get the call for it, and Maddalena literally called Shavkat out. I don't see the veterans fighting the new blood, so the prospects will most likely have to fight each other to stand out for a shot.

When you consider the fact he was beating the living hell out of Edwards so he decided only way to stop the fight was by pushing into his skull through the eyes. People already know Edwards won't fight him and Belal is the true champion.

We've seen Leon become a 5 round phenom.

It's hard to doubt his tools when he bests guys like Usman and Colby.

Belal's mental fortitude doesn't raise any questions but I don't think he has the skills, athleticism, or body type to beat guys like Leon outside of improbable scenarios.

All the top guys he beats are way past their prime.

Colby hasnt done shit in years, I don't think Leon beating him says anything about how he will fair against the top contenders who have been active and winning fights.

Literally nothing but Edwards/Belal makes sense. R1 Usman is gone from the division. Belal is number 2. 3, and 4 are Shavkat, and Colby. With JDM at 5.

Those 2 fights are clear and obvious. So schedule the Edwards/Belal fight, already. And Shavkat/JDM for the next shot. That’s actually legit matchmaking, and the right thing to do.

It's a fight taht they can't have headline a PPV cause it'll bomb on PPV buys, so they need the right main event to have this be co-main behind.

JDM is out cause of broken arm. Shavkat out cause of Ramadan and injuries. Colby just fought for the title. Usman lost back to back to Leon so that wouldn't happen either. Belal is the only possible choice unless they wait til the end of the year for JDM and Shavkat to fight, but then Leon wouldn't be defending until early next year, so I very much doubt this scenario happens. It's only a matter of time before they announce Leon vs Belal.
