Crime Do you support bringing back the "3 strikes" rule?

Considering the amount of plea deals and activist judges those "3 strikes" are more realistically 15 strikes.

Sure, if there's room for leniency for mistakes like if the system is weaponized against an innocent person. But if a person. Burglarized a business or home it should be 1 strike, they're finished right there...
Maybe we allow the justice system to continue with using discrepancy when dolling out punishment for things like burglary. It’s a pretty broad term

Maybe a forced maximum punishment for repeat offenders. Like getting life for check fraud or something like that because it's a 3rd offense would be wild. I get why people feel this way, but it's because we have a dangerous ideology spreading throughout the justice system letting criminals back out on the streets quickly, and often.

Because I grew up here. In the 90s, theres drive by shootings. Every. Single. Day. There's people that have gotten away with it. They are now in their 40s and never got caught shooting up the opps back in 1991.
so you recognize that there aren't drive by shootings every single day anymore, when the 3 strikes rule ISN'T in effect, and are instead asking to go back to the laws we had when drive by shootings DID happen every single day?

Nope. Burglary is willful. It's not like a corrupt cop planting weed in your car or something relatively Innocent. I guess I don't know what qualifies as a "strike" but I'm 100% against burglary.

Probably not, but I would like to see looney bins make a return.

The American penal system seems categorically all about punishment and profit, not rehabilitation.

3 strikes is a deterrent, but as a catch all often incarcerated people for minor third offenders.

Not sure a hybrid method of judge discretion v clear cut rules would work either.

All crimes are willful. It’s OK to be against burglary while still understanding that there can be varied punishment based on the severity of the offense.

I dont know how it works over there but let's say your caught stealing 3 times. 3rd time you take the maximum punishment for that and previous crimes. Anything violent or sexual is instant punishment, no fucking around.

Yes, however only for certain classifications of crime would count towards strikes.

Just admit you burgle... In my world, strike 3 pal, you're out...

No because even when we had it they still used it incorrectly. Look up freeway Rick Ross. He got sentenced to life because the 3 strike rule was abused by the prosecutor.
Any law can be erroneously applied. Should we not have any laws then?
