I personally don't think fighting tom makes sense for jon. If Jon wins, that win won't age well. Stipe will age well given his resume. Yea he's older but I rarely see anyone who can look at this type of situation objectively and intelligently. There is just a way people talk about this stuff. For example, the same people hyping Tom now will criticize John after for taking the fight, of John wins easily.

I consider him winning the belt but I don’t really consider him the current champ, if that makes sense. Gane was a great win. But 2 years of inactivity followed by a defense against someone even more inactive then him coming off a loss.

It was a cool fight and all because of who they are, but we have a an interim champ that’s now defended his belt. That’s the real champ now.
