I like many of the old fights better than the new ones, especially the 'NHB' era - proper actual *fighting*, (e.g. not 'competing') there was true 'fear' in the air, the atmosphere and intensity was like nothing else.
Headbutts, no gloves, raw, gritty, no divisions, that's how I started watching MMA
Just can't compare it.
There was a sweet spot in between then and the 'commercial product' era we have now and that was perhaps 2000-2006, and I reckon that was the 'golden era' of MMA, just before it took off towards the mainstream we have now
