I love it, and I'm from the upper peninsula of Michigan. Mosquito capital of the lower 48(self proclaimed). They have 2 seasons there, shoveling season and swatting season lol

Got invited to a camping trip by a woman I just met. Going to see if I wake up with my organs still intact.

Back in the 1980s I said that roughing it to me was staying at a hotel/motel that didn't have remote controlled color television sets.

The human race has spent thousands of years developing indoor plumbing, electricity, refrigeration etc and some people want to go out and shit in the woods and drink water from streams that animals piss and shit in.

We also spent hundreds of thousands year before that shitting in the woods so there's something still within us to seeks out these experiences.

I still camp in a tent when i go fishing in remote spots. I also have a trailer set up permanently at a campground which saves me a ton on hotels as I travel through that area often.

Love it, been a family thing for decades, if not centuries. My father and his brother camped all over Europe, riding their BMW motorcycles.

Family trips (my Grandma is the one sitting in the chair).

My previous dog Robbie out on one of our numerous fishing-camping trips. God I miss that good boy.

I'm a big dude, plagued by injuries, and I don't want to sleep on a little mat on the ground. If I do I'm wrecked for a week. If it's to haul a whole truck to set up a mini house for 3 days it beats the purpose of camping.

Also, mosquitos.
