I get to work out in the wilderness here and there for work so camping doesn't really appeal to me. It's basically just spending money to go sit uncomfortably in the forest for a day or two.
 
I hate camping in a tent. Cabin, or gtfo with that shit. Anybody who picked i love it, never camped in a state that has lots of mesquito's. Ever fall asleep in a tent with a few mesquito's? Fuck that shit, never again.
 
Like others have mentioned I personally classify camping in 3 groups:
  1. Glamping - Running water and toilet
  2. Campsite - Sleeping in a tent with a place to shower and use the bathroom
  3. Backcountry - Carrying your water and bringing a Shit Shovel
I've done all 3, but the older I get the more I prefer Glamping or at minimum a campsite.
 
I'm doing a pretty cool glamping resort(because my fiance doesn't like the idea of camping camping) at Acadia National Park for 3 days in early October.

I love camping, but as others have already said, the older I get the more I prefer staying in a cabin.

I love it, and I'm from the upper peninsula of Michigan. Mosquito capital of the lower 48(self proclaimed). They have 2 seasons there, shoveling season and swatting season lol
 
Yeah but haven't been real camping very much. Used to go to a trailer park resort with my family every year. Went to a national park with a couple friends shortly after highschool, I want to do some camping and portaging in the future. Just carry a kayak or inflatable up into the woods and go back into lakes that most people will never experience. Lakes where the fish may have never seen a lure.

Likely just a dream now, no way my wife would let me go camping alone for a week.
 
The fear of being eaten by large wild animal? Stepping on someone's freshly pooped poop?
 
Overall I like it, but at an age where the whole song and dance is a pain in the ass. Cabin, yurt, RV makes it fun again.
 
I liked it when I was younger, but about 20 years ago I did an 800k bike packing solo trip. Lugging around camping gear on a bicycle and getting shitty sleep for 10 days straight turned me off camping.

I love any situation where I can wake up and instantly drink a beer. So ya camping rules.

Back in the 1980s I said that roughing it to me was staying at a hotel/motel that didn't have remote controlled color television sets.

The human race has spent thousands of years developing indoor plumbing, electricity, refrigeration etc and some people want to go out and shit in the woods and drink water from streams that animals piss and shit in.
