Do you like birds?

My god sir, who's that in your av?

A pretty bird.

She is certainly that sir...a very pretty bird.

It is a well established consensus on Sherdog that we like and need more birds.

Here you go bird lovers.

I love birds. Amazing creatures, fascinating to watch. Used to have a crafty and saucy budgerigar but wouldn't keep another bird on account of my opinion that they're one of the animals that are just not meant to be kept as pets.

My wife was talking with this old lady. She mentioned something about mosquitoes and flies being a nuisance. The old lady says put out some feeders get the birds in and they will take care of it. I'm like that makes sense I suppose. I go out buy some feeders different varieties of foods. Sure enough the birds came but now I have mosquitoes, flies , and a racoon problem lol. Then I'm like well maybe cut off the food every now and then maybe they will get hungry and eat the bugs. Nope they just leave and raccoons get in my trash and buildings

We don't get raccoons in the UK but if they're anything like Squirrels you need to grease the pole that the feeders are on to stop them climbing up and/or put a big lip underneath it that they can't get past.

I've heard that squirrels are both creative and patient.

Here are some tips and ideas for nature films about birds in particular. If you were unlucky enough to have missed Iolo Williams, I think it would be a good idea to see some of his bird films and especially those from his beloved Wales. He is charismatic and incredibly knowledgeable ornithologist and can imitate the sounds of different birds. A fun thing is also the programs where he only speaks Welsh. Completely impossible to understand!

The Secret Life of Birds. A 5 episode series and one of my favorites. Just sit back and enjoy the narration from Iolo Williams and the mediative images of the birds.

The Life of Birds from 1998 is still going strong and still the best nature series about birds from around the world.

Normally, I prefer the graininess and realism that analog gave in normal movies. But nature films in particular have had the advantage of digital filming as the technology they use works very well in the advanced modern TV sets. Colors and details are getting better and the animals deserve to be presented in the best way.

As the BBC has made sequels to Blue Planet and Planet Earth and used modern technology, it would have been wonderful if they had done the same with a long series about birds from around the world.

I also forgot to mention in the OP that I watched a whole lot from NHK Wildlife. It is also a long-running series and almost the same high class as Natural World and Nature. The positive of the Japanese series is that it is broadcast in English and the Japanese film crew are very curious and you can tell.

If you want to search outside the big broadcasting companies, Doclight Films is one of the best production companies and you can watch their high-quality nature films on Curiosity Stream.

Back in April we went to a birds of prey conservation place nearby. Kind of pushed my wife to come along. Spent most of the day flying hawks, owls and eagles.

Probably the most fun we've had out together in ages. Great day despite it raining.
