Exactly. Put that money/research into medical improvements, or food crop improvements. Put it towards improving the lives of the millions of homeless/starving people in the world. We don't need internet upgrades or fucking hoverboards when millions of people literally have nothing to eat.

That's not quite the angle I was aiming for but I won't fault it either.
