To beat Jones?

I give him 0%

Old, inactive, coming out from a huge KO so concused

Jones by whatever he wants

This fight should have been made 3 years ago, now its too late, complete missmatch

The theoretical cracked chin is irrelevant against Jones. If he's the same fighter that Ngannou just fought he's absolutely got a chance, he could keep it standing, Jones could gas and Stipe could take over.

Jones is the rightful favourite, but this is a legit fight

Not much but he definitely has a chance.
Age isn't anywhere near the factor for heavyweights as it is at other weightclasses. Stipe can wrestle, he has one punch knockout power and can land it moving forwards or backwards. He also has amazing legkicks that he has all but forgotten in the past half decade.

I don't put any stock whatsoever in people saying he has a cracked chin, Francis KOs everybody in the world that he touches, especially when they run into his fist like Stipe did. Besides, Jones can't bust a grape, he's an amazing fighter but KO power has never been a part of his skillset. Cracked chin or no, it won't be a factor in this fight.

Its a fight. Of course he has a chance.

I just wouldnt bet money on him unless the odds were 20 to 1 or something.

He is old. As for his chin ...maybe 2 years off helped it recovered. But we wont know until it happens.

Imo him nor Jones are in their primes anymore.

I could see Stipe surviving the first round and Jones maybe gassing with his new weight.

But if both are close to their best, Jones shpuld win.

Odds put Stipe at roughly 23% chance. I think that's fairly accurate. Nevertheless, HW favorites win at a rate of 68.63% so if you're a betting person, there's probably slight edge on Stipe

A puncher's chance, yes. If he chooses to just swing for the fences instead of playing the stupid fucking games everyone plays. I absolutely am disgusted when a fighter makes it to round 3 of 3, or 4 of 5 and is losing on the cards, and they choose to just stick with the same game plan. I understand it's hard, but when there is only one clear path of victory and people don't take that path, it's sad. This fight most likely won't go to decision. Jon, if he's smart, will disable the puncher's chance with takedowns which will most likely lead to submissions. I think I'm going to go ahead and call a RD 1 sub right now. If not, then Jon is dumb.

Styles make fights. Jones has put on a ton of weight and we have not seen how well his cardio will hold up at HW yet. He hasn't exactly been very active in the past few years either (and looked utterly terrible in the fights before Gane which was extremely brief) so this is far from the slam dunk people think it is.

Stipe's biggest weakness has always been his chin but Jones has never been a power puncher so this is unlikely to be an issue here. Genuine lol @ people picking Jones via sub in round 1 as if Stipe getting KTFO by Ngannou somehow affected his submission defense

Jones will likely have his cardio tested in a fight that goes the distance which definitely favors the person who is actually experienced in 5 round HW fights. Stipe is fast for a big guy, has good defensive wrestling, and hits hard... even though I think Jones pulls off the decision win, this is a real fight and Stipe absolutely has a chance.

Age is less of a factor at HW and people are really overreacting to the Gane fight. 2 minutes of domination against a completely 1 dimensional opponent hardly erases 5+ years of lackluster performances from Jones (against vastly inferior competition) and is hardly indicative of how a fight against a completely different style of opponent will go.

Jones via competitive decision

Stipe gonna whoop dat ass!

POW! BOOM! SMASH!

100% Stipe takes this one.

Won’t even be close,

This fight is a tossup imo.

Stipe has never been subbed, and Jones never KO’s anyone so it will come down to cardio and grit.

We know Stipe has both at HW and we know Jones has grit but I’m not sure about his cardio at that weight.

Jones is tricky and diverse in the standup, but Stipe has legit stopping power.

I honestly don’t get the crazy odds, Jones submitted a dude who got grapplefucked by Ngannou ffs.

I just think it’ll be a shit fight. Two guys who are slower and past their physical peak. I hope it’s good though. Stipe definitely has a chance, but it’ll probably be Jones 49-46

He’s still solid and Jones is still unproven at HW and doesn’t have KO power - Stipe does.

I favor Jones greatly but Stipe isn’t an easy out. Definitely past his prime but he still has very few losses.

So you learned nothing, TS? You literally said this earlier this very same month:

Strickland doesnt deserve a title shot
Got it just because he have a big mouth and have some beef with izzy
He is the new Chael Sonnen basicaly
Izzy will make it look so damn EAZZY
Might become one of the eazyest fight in izzy's career
Discuss
Adesanya vs Strickland looks like
Jones vs Sonnen, a complete missmatch
Strikeland have literaly no chance at all
Nobody wants to see that fight

15%. His age and getting KOd in 2 of his last 4 fights, with the last one being absolutely brutal makes some epic performance unlikely. He’s surprised me before though, but Jones is rightfully heavily favored.

10% of a chance.
He’s old and a geriatric in mma terms basically but you gotta remember Jones ducked him forever and tried to time this fight when stipes deteriorated.
