Maybe not always nightmares, but I'm being awoken from sleep by dreams much more often now that I'm back to living on my own (I also haven't had any alcohol in 2022 so far, so my sleep cycles are readjusting). Most of them are just nonsensical, some probably qualify as nightmares.
Had one a week or so back that was pretty Inception-like, dreams within dreams. My new house kept changing and closing me in (each time I "woke up" the house was different, and I couldn't escape - it got more claustrophobic with each "awakening"). Walls different colors and changing layout, doors not opening no matter how hard I try to force them, friends appearing and suddenly vanishing, stuff like that.
It almost turned in to a pseudo-lucid dream. I figured out it probably wasn't real and ran to the kitchen to look at the clock on the stovetop, because electronics pretty much never work how they're supposed to in dreams. Sure enough - no definable time could be read. So in the dream, I see this and start screaming "WAKE UP." Once I woke up "for real," I was in the middle of yelling something but my vocal cords wouldn't work. Sounded like a zombie for a few seconds.
