I always stay away from alcoholic drinks, violent movies and videogames.

And always say my prayers before and after bedtime, so I'm good.

Maybe not always nightmares, but I'm being awoken from sleep by dreams much more often now that I'm back to living on my own (I also haven't had any alcohol in 2022 so far, so my sleep cycles are readjusting). Most of them are just nonsensical, some probably qualify as nightmares.

Had one a week or so back that was pretty Inception-like, dreams within dreams. My new house kept changing and closing me in (each time I "woke up" the house was different, and I couldn't escape - it got more claustrophobic with each "awakening"). Walls different colors and changing layout, doors not opening no matter how hard I try to force them, friends appearing and suddenly vanishing, stuff like that.

It almost turned in to a pseudo-lucid dream. I figured out it probably wasn't real and ran to the kitchen to look at the clock on the stovetop, because electronics pretty much never work how they're supposed to in dreams. Sure enough - no definable time could be read. So in the dream, I see this and start screaming "WAKE UP." Once I woke up "for real," I was in the middle of yelling something but my vocal cords wouldn't work. Sounded like a zombie for a few seconds.

Not anymore. Managed to become very aware this last decade, that its dream state. So end up watching desensetized. Most common one is beeing chased

I rarely get them, but I got one last week. I thought I was fighting for my life, ended up waking up punching my bed. It was messed up thought it was real. And it freaked me out to be honest.

Not to the point of screaming in my sleep anymore but husband quite often like at least a couple of times a week has to wake me up because I'm in a nightmare and quite vocal yelling or talking in my sleep about it. Thankfully I rarely remember it.

Yeah me too, had one a few weeks ago and i was being chased by like 4 guys through this abandoned house, was a bit fucked.

Most of the dreams I remember are nightmares. Always has to do with me fucking up at my old job, or includes one of my friends that have passed away.

I had a dream last night where I beat the shit out of one of the managers and was running around the workplace, waiting for them to show up and fire me. So I had the worries about conflict, judgement, what to do as I was going to be unemployed etc...the things one usually thinks about when having fucked up etc...

Only thing is that my place of work was on a tropical island...

Just about every night, and to have them multiple times per night isn't really that uncommon for me. I dream constantly.

Everyone dreams constantly, every night actually. So I don't know whats up in the poll lol.

Damn, banned after only 24 posts. That's right to the point I guess.

Haha yea. I think a lot of people just have diminished recall or intensity, so it doesn't really effect, or matter to them once they're awake.

Very rare

But the chance goes up if I am having a poor sleep or sick.

Very rare I have nightmares. I often have dreams of sherdoggers, but they are always very pleasant and flirty type dreams

I think I had more nightmares when I was younger, especially in teenage years.

Very rarely, I guess after becoming Christian there is not much that can scare you.

Although your brain can still be confused from time to time

Last time I tried quitting smoking pot I got some and they were intense one involved fighting but it was just me getting beat up by some dude in his driveway for some reason and I couldn’t fight back or do anything was really lame and also weird but I don’t get many dreams that feel extreme enough to be called a nightmare while I’m smoking weed it keeps my psyche shielded from the horrors of dreamworld

When I smoke I don´t dream. But when I take a break there are some insane dreams the first 2 weeks.

i have experienced this as well, i was getting headaches and feeling really irritable after a month of not smoking but also had intense dreams and could remember some of them very well compared to like others pretty much having little no experience of dreaming or memory of it, its common knowledge i think that you dream every night and go through some different sleep cycles and its the REM or rapid eye movement sleep that i think is the intense dreaming and also the state that you ideally want to wake up in too but i could be wrong its been a while since i went through the sleep research stuff

i want to say enough but i can never be sure, i smoke until im not a danger to myself or others is a good way of putting it, im not sure if i could switch to some other way of sedating myself or if i could develop some kind of zen mastery technique but so far the method is to smoke a bunch of weed every day and it does the trick ive also used a vape pen to some effect as well
