Do you feel guilty when you skip the tip at self-checkout?

Evil A.I.s are here and BIGGER and more powerful will come... you no tip they wipe out your bank account.

I select the tip option but then I give them like 10 cents. That's their bonus for existing.

With how much tipping is expected for doing the bare minimum, or sometimes for literally nothing, maybe everyone should be asking for tips. When you give your boss the report he asked for, wait around and ask for a tip. Help an old lady cross the street, ask for a tip. Maybe you can ask the waiter for a tip if you clean up the table after you're done eating. I want a tip from the fast food place when I fill up my own drink at the soda fountain since I'm the one doing the work of walking over to the fountain.

No I don't feel guilty at all, I usually skip tips at places like that. I sometimes tip those people though depending on how the service at the counter is. If the girl is hot I'm a sucker and sometimes I'll tip. Or if the worker is engaging and I'm in the mood I'll put a few bucks.

At the supermarket I used to go all the time and one worker was just incredible friendly. One time I felt in the mood and gave the guy 20 cash and said lunch is on me. Another guy at the self checkout at the grocery store was my usual guy. Nice old guy we always chatted. I sell art and once I gave him a print I knew he'd like. Normally that would be 40 bucks if selling at a show, but cost me around 5. Guess that's a tip

My grocer has self-checkout but no cash allowed, only cards. It sometimes asks for donations. Sometimes I give.
My hair cut place has self-checkout and of course I always tip the gal who cut it.

I've never noticed a tipping option at self checkout at Walmart, target, Price Chopper or any other trailer.

at restaurants i'll tip if the service is good, samething at a bar. But if its bad service then i don't tip.

The Tim Hortons here in Nunavut, it's self service, for the coffee AND the donut, it's behind a glass and you pick which donut you want then pay at the counter, hahaha

Down south, when i take a cab/uber to and from the airport, i'll only tip if they take my bag, if they just open the trunk by pressing a button from their drivers seat, then i won't tip.

What i find annoying, is when you use a food delivery app (Uber eats, etc), you PRE-tip before you even get your food! it's not after its delivered, its BEFORE.

They ask in a different way. They have a prompt asking if you want to round up for some charity.

I guess it depends. If I'm going to feel guilty about it, I tip. Question is, why do you feel guilty? If you've received above and beyond service, I'd suggest tipping, even if you're getting take-out. We all know why- these people don't get paid well at all. Their wages are narrowed on the presumption that they're going to get tips, which isn't fair to you, but it's not fair to them either.
But anyone who tries to pressure you into tipping is being dishonest. It's not your problem. The argument that "well you shouldn't eat out if you're not going to tip" is absurd.

Honestly the blame truly lies on the company

Tipping is for table service and bartenders.

Not counter service.

This is untrue, I got banned by associations..
See @Slobodan, 3 male prostitutes, one one legged and a donkey went to that brothel. Needless to say I got falsely blamed.
It’s ok. You are welcomed in Trabaho’s gaming design studio.

ive always tipped 20% when I go out to eat. I figured that was solid. Went out last night to nice place, they bring the card reader to my table to pay and the three options on the card reader were 20%, 25% and 30%. This is a 200$ bill mind you so the tip isnt cheap. I guess 20% is the new minnimum expectation.

I was also surprised to find out that 43 states are allowed to use tips to meet minnimum wage for the employee. California is one of the 7 states that does not allow employers to do that.

I never tip at these new spots. Only at restaurants or when trades people work on my house. Stuff like that.

I'm not tipping the lady at Domino's when I walk in to the store and pick the pizza up myself. Hell no. Now if dominos drives that pizza over, then of course I tip.
You're supposed to tip tradespeople?

I've never tipped a plumber or HVAC guy. What a horrible practice! Big jobs can cost thousands, I'm not tipping a percentage of that
