You are getting played for a fool by jack, because that's what these people who participate in this partisan bullshit do, they try and convince you that THEY are the real news media and have all the truth.

I have read through the whole thread. It´s really refreshing to see the different sets of mind on play here. But sorry to say, I don´t feel like I´m being played by Jack Savage. I just think he has proven to be the best provider of healthy insight in to your complex and divided country. I think it would be a great idea if you had one or 2 more players in play instead of just left and right political landscape. I really think it limit the development of your democracy when you have only these two powerhorses in power.

When I was working in Mozambique, we had a investigation trip to Zimbabwe and to inaugurate the new headquarters for the organisation I was working for(DAPP) in Harare. Robert Mugabe was there to bless the place and I have shaken hand with him. This was in 1997. At that time he was kind of a great guy, you know he was a former teacher who was a big part of the movemet heading forward after England left. But i could already see then, the display of small scale corruption when he was visiting villages in our district to give people a sack of rice and other food items, just to get a vote. It was easy work for him because the people from the country side didn´t know what political ideology was. In his early days he had the biggest support outside of the city and with this and with many other countries in sub-sahara you have in practice only a 1 party system. And we all know what happened to good willed people like Mugabe. They got the curse of autocratic illness.

And you in USA are actually one party away from being a democratic dictatorship.

They're working for us, not him. Always remember that. Air Force One belongs to us, we pay for it. Trump got on Air Force One and he shamelessly lied to our face.
Guess who we hired to run the Government.......

It's not unreasonable to expect enthusiasm and loyalty from those working under or for you.

He is a criminal and not fit to serve.

This is just your personal opinion and it undermines everything else you say.

That which is asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

Cohen pleaded guilty to felony campaign finance law charges while naming Trump as his co-conspirator who directed him to take action, and Trump was the one who benefited from it. There is a mountain of evidence of this, including audio tapes. Even worse for Trump, he wanted to pay in cash, which Cohen was smart enough to refuse. Numerous legal experts have concluded that Trump would have been charged if he hadn't been elected president. There's a pretty good chance that they slap cuffs on Trump almost immediately after he exits the White House, whether that's in two years or 6 years or if he doesn't even make it through his first term. By the way, the self-proclaimed law & order president is now calling for criminals cooperating with prosecutors to be outlawed, even though it's arguably the greatest tool that law enforcement has in bringing criminals to justice. Funny how that works. He's a self-serving criminal who only gives lip service to law and order at best and then flips on them when it serves his own purposes.

That.... wasn't.... a news show....

Fox News by their own admissions is entertainment and not news.

Also numerous studies show that people who watch only the daily show are more informed of current events than those who watch only Fox News.

I can link if you’d like, but they aren’t hard to find.

LOL, sure. "Studies".

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.bu...-informed-than-watching-no-news-at-all-2012-5

They found that someone who watched only Fox News would be expected to answer 1.04 domestic questions correctly compared to 1.22 for those who watched no news at all. Those watching only "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" answered 1.42 questions correctly and people who only listened to NPR or only watched Sunday morning political talk shows answered 1.51 questions correctly.

Sorry, sunshine. The truth hurts.

Literally staring at a wall all day keeps you more informed than Fox News viewers ROFL

yea. i sort of view it as an important news supplement. and yea, they always are left leaning.

i actually think john oliver's show has better investigative journalism than almost anywhere else though lol. super left leaning of course, but holy shit do they dig deep into issues and actually cite sources etc.

Why do suppose the Right prefers to get their "news" entertainment from Limbaugh, Alex Jones, etc. and the Left prefers TV comedians?

Watching TDS keeps you more informed than watching Fox News.

Having trouble with reading comprehension today? Or do you just like being obtuse?

"The Facts" is a subjective term when it comes to studies and polls. That's why I laughed at your initial "I can post a link" comment. Did you understand that, or are you having trouble with reading comprehension? Or did you just think that I thought you couldn't actually post a link in a thread?

What the fuck are you even talking about?

You said “studies lol” and now you’re moving the goal posts. If you don’t want to trust them it’s your own problem. You can take it for what it’s worth.

I fail to see what you’re attempting to accomplish.

If your point is “I don’t trust the studies” you could keep it to yourself and no harm would be done.

See my post for what I'm talking about. Most "studies" and "polls" are simply political attacks on the other side. Which is what this thread is about. I would guess the goal of that poll was to see just how stupid people who only watched FOXNEWS are, and low and behold they found out they're actually even less informed than people who don't watch the news at all. Shocking outcome. P.S., stop trying to make me defend FOXNEWS.

While I understand the skepticism of your local news running the “X cures cancer! Tune in at 11” studies, what you really could’ve said is you don’t believe in scientific studies.

Cool, thanks. The study was pretty tough on MSNBC viewers too

Like I said, take it for what it’s worth.

It's not just token conservatives, but generally, it sounds like you understand that CNN (a MSM company) has a fundamentally different model than Fox or MSNBC, which is my point. I'm aware that to fanatical right-wingers, it appears left (and to the left, it appears right).

What would you consider a "fanatical right-winger" and how would it be different from a regular Conservative? It was painfully obvious that CNN was in the tank for Obama for all eight years of his Presidency and that they were salivating for Hillary Clinton to become President. A CNN debate moderator even took sides during one of the 2012 debates after which CNN generated an internal memo calling it a glaring mistake, doesn't get much more blatantly biased than that. Don't get me wrong, they're still a quality, respectable news outlet of course but they're leftist nonetheless. One of us is looking at a spade and calling it a spade and the other is not.

"Real journalism" is undefined.

What do you mean by different business model then?

For 95% of the population, blind trust of relatively reliable sources is, in fact, a MUCH better guide to truth than selective skepticism of the same sources. It would be great if everyone was as smart and consistently rational as they think they are and had access to original sources and the time to do the work of discovering relevant facts themselves, but that's simply not the world we live in.

The current pattern for most WRers at least is, "when the MSM reports something that is good for my tribe, it's accurate; when it reports something I don't like, it's probably lying, and Breitbart or Prison Planet are more accurate."

Nobody has been using Breitbart since Bannon left. You're like 2 years behind dude.

I'm willing to bet 90% of the viewers are old people (baby boomers).

Once they're gone, MSM is gone for good since most millenials and generation Z don't watch garbage on TV, they use the internet on their laptops/phones/tablets to get their news.
