Well hes the first champ in recent history to win the title by not having any top 6 wins.
If a champ retires and someone else wins the belt, the new champ isn't a champ?
what kind of nonsense is this?
Yes, truly earned his title shot with 6 wins, just fought whoever they put in front of him, will defend his title against the best challenger, called out triple C multiple times. Like, what more can you ask from this guy? He's getting the best he can that's within his reach.
Of course there's doubt whether he can stay champion with a handful of possible contenders lined up already, but that's why he's here to try defend it.
Nonsense is Yan getting the title shot over two guys with much better records against a guy with zero wins in the division.

which two guys again?
This has nothing to do with Cejudo. It's about Yan vs. Aldo being a bullshit match up to crown a new champ.Exactly
People can think Cejudo is better than Yan if they want, but the real champ defends his belt. Cejudo chose to relinquish his duties. Yan is now the reigning defending champ
i was against Aldo getting the shot too. was a great fight anyway thoThis has nothing to do with Cejudo. It's about Yan vs. Aldo being a bullshit match up to crown a new champ.
Sterling and Moraes were ranked above Yan when he got the shot. Both have much better resumes. At this point, so does Sandhagen.
Now Sandhagen perhaps but not then except he lost recently.
Also Sterling had a loss to Moraes.
Sandhagen has a loss to Sterling
Moraes recently lost to Sandhagen
You see the problem here, they have all been losing to each other.
Moraes got his title shot and lost against Cejudo 3 fights ago and he has gone 1-1 since.
Sterling loss to Moraes and then won 5 in a row
Sandhagen is on a scorching one fight win streak after beating Moraes.
Yan is 7-0 in the UFC so far.
Yan's best wins pre-title shot were Rivera, Dodson and Faber.
Dodson and Faber were past it, and Moraes and Sterling beat Rivera easier than Yan did.
Going by your logic, any rando from DWCS who has an undefeated record against scrubs has more of a case for a title shot than top contenders who have losses to other top contenders.

So consistency doesn't matter? I ask because Yan shares common wins against other guys in the division (like Rivera).
I don't see what's got you so worked up. The division has a lot of exciting fighters and with TJ's return it should be very interesting. Moraes got his shot very recently. Sterling will likely be next (Sandhagen should have been but that loss pretty much heads that off).
And Aljo has a streak that is much better? Not really, it is a very small margin if it is. Things went the way they supposed to, Aljo getting starched by Magic Moreas is plenty reason for Petr to have gotten the TS before him. Anyway it's not even a big deal, Aljo is getting his shot so there's no reason to cry about this.He didn't earn shit. His best wins going into the title fight were over Rivera and two washed up guys in Faber and Dodson.
Sterling beat five ranked guys in a row without losing around.
He was only in that position because Dana was still pissed about Sterling complaining about money five years ago.
