For beating Gastelum. Always hear that he was way undersized blah blah.

Not really. He was huge compared to kelvin and has better wrestling. Kelvin is too small for mw. Dude needs to get a diet and go back to 170

It was a great win. Kelvin has been on a tear in middleweight, so I don't see how you wouldn't give credit to Weidman because he has a larger frame. Everyone else at MW has had the same advantages yet lost. However I do feel Kelvin wasn't fully committed to beating him for some reason.

I bet money Weidman was gonna win that fight and I was honestly surprised he struggled as much as he did with kg.

Weidman could easily fight at lhw and kelvin should be a ww - no denying that .

Weidman definitely deserves credit. No one else at 85 has been able to do it.

But what’s nuts about Kelvin is he has hurt (pretty badly) everybody he has fought at MW. Whether that’s getting Bis, Kennedy, and Vitor out of there or dropping/rocking Jacare last night or even Weidman who he had in a very bad way before Chris managed to right the ship and take over with his grappling.

Basically, I don’t see the whole, Kelvin needs to drop back to 170 logic. The dude is either being competitive against top challengers and former champs or outright beating them.

Twenty more seconds on the clock and Weidman might have been finished in the first round. Weidman's lucky. A four fight losing streak would have been hilarious.

No I don't give him credit for beating Gastelum. Gastelum is a bloated welterweight and Weidman could be fighting light heavyweight, plus Gastelum came super close to knocking him out. Fuck Chris Weidman I always thought he was overrated, he had been knocked out 3 times in a row before the Gastelum fight and fuck I wish it had of been 4 in a row hahaha. There's very few fighters that I strongly dislike and he's definitely one of them.

Weidman... Would like a rematch down the line. But has been hit and miss since fighting Brazil... Wanted to see him at 205 when he was dominating... not so sure now.

First of all this is Sherdog, fighters only get credit directly from their fanbase.

On Weidman specifically, I feel there were too many discrepancies in too many matches to really draw a clear picture. He doesn't get enough credit for his career in total, but he also doesn't really have a string of great wins with no asterisks.

Nope. But I give Weidman full credit for his poor IQ spin kick against Luke that derailed his career.

Absolutely. Weidman is a beast. Kelvin is a beast too. He faced some adversity and persevered. I like it.

What's with all these shitty Weidman threads today? Are people really that annoyed that he beat Kelvin, or are is it still about Anderson Silva?

Nahhh Sherdog is full of salty Silva nut huggers who will hate on or discredit anything Weidman does

You would think they would build Weidman up as a killer because that would make Silva look better but they're too blinded by hate to figure that out

weidman arm triangled his ass with ease lol.

top game and wrestling just on another level

No.

Gastelum goes from rightful number 1 contender when discussing just him to obese WW that holds no value when Mah Boy is brought up

The Chris hate is real

Considering Kevin's record at MW, yes it was a very big win. However, he has been very inactive since the fight.

I feel like this division went from being the most stacked division in the UFC to now lacking contenders. Normally, I would argue Kelvin needs another W over a top contender for a title shot, but there's nobody else in the division.

i dont like his guido team, but weidman was always a solid fighter
even when he lost to solid fighters
