Do movies need a happy end?

For the people that like open endings to a movie/serie. Try the Rain on Netflix. If you don't have a problem with watching a serie where they don't speak English.

No, they don't, but i prefer when they have an ending. Having a film end open-ended seems so unsatisfying. I know some people can appreciate it, but i prefer a conclusion.

This 100%. I'll take happy or sad just give me an ending.

No, movies doesn't need a happy end. Movies needs an end that suits the movie.

No, just an ending that's tonally consistent and wraps up the major plotlines in a satisfactory manner.

Absolutely not they should remake movies and give them bleaker endings.

Toy story, they are just toys and the kid gets medicated and then raped in a psych ward, becomes a male prostitue and is murdered by a serial killer.
DCU movies stay the same and a bleak future where they slowly and predictably ruin the entire DC franchise.

No, thats why The way we were with Robert Redford and Barbra Streisand is one of the best chic flicks of all time

I like the end to Runaway Train (Voight, Roberts, De Mornay, Ryan). Everybody loses.

Shawshank Redemption was almost ruined by that bullshit final shot
Shoulda ended with Red on the bus wondering about the future
Personally, I like the ending. It hit the heart. For me. Great movie hands down.

Also, No Country for Old Men. Didn’t have a happy ending, but it was a good movie.
