I underestimated the degree to which Do Bronx could lame the opposition with his grappling /JJ. He can take a top tier fighter and just put him on his back and keep him there, albeit while not doing any damage.

I don't know who else in the top 5 who could deal with his grappling. Maybe Hooker, good striking and he's huge for a LW, hard to take down. Poirier is real scrappy but he got handled by Khabib on the ground. Def not Gaethje, his JJ is kindergarten tier. Conor can put Charles' lights out but I fear he might get lamed as well.

At one point in time, I thought Charles was destined to lose big fights and just crush solid opposition forever. The guy has improved as much as any fighter I've ever seen in application of skill and fixed his physical and mental shortcomings this last year. Just phenomenal.

He's got the skill to win it. I still need to see him face some top level adversity to be convinced that he won't wilt again.

We must have watched different fights. Oli was masterful in there - basically better everywhere. This from someone who picked Tony to win but is a pretty big fan of both guys.

Have to say I see his point, talk all you want about the arm bar both which was absolutely gruesome, beyond that the rest of the fight was very forgettable, and more about just negatting out tony's ability to do anything, not very many strikes were thrown or absorbed, beyond the arms both guys left the fight without a scratch, execpt for the wonky arm.

You can talk about casual all you want i've been watching MMA pretty hardcore for 20 years, and absolutely agree that beyond the submission game there wasn't very much damage, again the arm was absolutely nasty.. completely hyper extended, but come on now, at least Khabib learned how to maul, you don't look at Oliveira's game last night and say he Mauled Tony Ferguson, you say he negated Tony but nearly broke his arm! Still a gruesome attack in the first round, but if that armbar was so nasty where was the rest of the damage after that? The rest of the fight should have been easy if dude is fighting with one arm and you still can lay down some damage. Come on son?
