“The thing is, God it’s hard, that’s a hard one, because you know Merab is so good, I think with Dom Dom has very high fight iq, not saying Merab doesn’t, Dom is big, I just don’t know if Merab could take him down you know?, I didn’t think Merab was gonna be able to out wrestle Henry Cejudo and carry him across the cage like that. Just for how many chanpions Merab has beaten, I’m gonna have to go with Merab

It's hard to pick the winner between Merab's relentless takedown attempts that lead to an UD, and Dominick Cruz's shifty footwork that leads to an UD, but the fans will not be the winner

I think it would be a case of high level scrambling on both parts. Merab would keep trying for takedowns and I feel as though Dom would be able to negate some of it and end up in advantageous positions in others. I feel like Dom would edge it out with his darting jabs and step-in knees to the body.
Overall I think it would be a high pace, fun watch.

prime cruz beat up faber a few times. didn't even fight prime barao.

who did cruz beat at 135 to be a proper legend?

TJ, although I scored that fight TJ. DJ but he's obviously a tiny BW. Same with Joe-B.

Cruz is a legend but yeah his resume isn't great in comparison to Merab and even Aljo.

im serious. i remember when he came back and ko'd mizugaki but what is his resume? he barely beat tj when usada messed him up

Nah, Cruz is perennially underrated around here. Cruz beat great fighters, in their prime. Merab is great but has several guys on his resume who were past their best or on a skid. Cruz has more ranked wins and more title defenses than any other BW. So many fans today missed most of Cruz’s career and don’t realize how good he was.
I like prime Cruz’s chances against any BW ever, including Merab.

Stylistically it wouldn't be a decisive win for either guy. Cruz also had great cardio and wouldve been able to stop takedowns and held his own on the ground. Cruz has a very awkward style

He beat Mighty Mouse at 135 within a year before MM won the FLW title and started his run.

mighty mouse lost to uncle creepy but bad judging. that's all he did?
Cruz is an interesting case. He won the title and had 4 defenses before injuries sidelined him for 3 years. He came back, got a win, was sidelined another 2 years. Then came back and beat TJ who was the reigning champ. He's a pretty big what if story.

i hate to say it but cruz is massively overrated. at 135 he would lose to petr yan, merab, umar, sandhagen, and he lucked out and got dillashaw before he adjusted to usada and barely won that. i think he was in his prime when he lost to cody garbrandt too
