Someone I've known at work for 25 years just got a divorce. Went from living in a big house in a gated community to living in a studio apartment. He looks ROUGH. Lost his house, his retirement money, boat AND judge ordered for him to pay child support AND alimony. It's pretty much too late for him to start over as he is in his mid 50s.

He didnt do anything wrong. His wife said she wasnt happy in the marriage anymore and lost the spark. I had a feeling this was gonna happen because the age gap was huge.

Just got divorced, she called the cops on me and sent me to jail while I was drunk, been paying for her to live in my apartment while I stay with my folks for the past two months and looks like will be three more until lease ends.

Although I didn't want to get divorced, for me hindsight is 20 20 and I'm glad it happened. Been divorced for a few years now, ex pays me alimony for the next 10 years as I was a stay at home dad while she advanced her career.

got half her retirement and half profit of the house sale. I negotiated a newish car paid in full. I can do whatever I want when I want. I get to have new women which has been surprisingly easy, travel when and where I want, and have my kids 50 50. I'm smoking some ribs and gonna watch the ufc in a bit with my son. Going to new orleans for Mardi gras in a few weeks by myself
For me divorce has actually been pretty great.

I 100% know that this isnt the norm and I feel for all the men out there that get fucked over in divorce

Well in my case filing jointly doesn't even help much. My wife and I both make over six figures and they halve the deduction as if we're filing single. We end up owning money every year. The only bonus is I'm on her health insurance which we pay $0 a month for.

Your story is becoming more and more common. Many women outearn men now and there are way more stay at home dads.

In my case, if I got divorced, it would be an even 50/50 split because California laws. No alimony, no child support, id keep my retirement and shed keep her pension.

Wow… your like a fucking Unicorn! As a man that is currently paying an obnoxious amount for “child support” which is really just baby momma support because kids shouldn’t cost me 1/5 of what I’m paying monthly. I definitely know how it feels to get fucked by the system lol. Life is still good though and my kids are incredible and I’m still blessed.

The crazy thing with my divorce is I was able to negotiate 252k over 10 years in alimony. Plus her retirement. She gave in and we had a no lawyer divorce because I said I wouldn't try for 100% custody which I had a chance at.

And because I'm a good salesman I make more than her before the alimony hits my checking each month. And its all signed sealed and delivered and binding through the courts. Wtf

Sherbro I feel for you. I almost feel guilty for my situation sometimes. But then I remember I paid for this in emotional pain and anguish and I did all the baby raising for years.
