Disappointed last night

Well, this isn't WWE. This stuff happens sometimes. It's part of the sport and really part of what makes it so exciting.

Reminds me when Stephanie McMahon used this kind of thing to say WWE PPVs were a better value. "You actually get your money's worth here." <45>

Doesn't change the fact that the "cherry picked" opponent made Ngannou look like a bum not long ago.

Stylistically it was a cherry picked opponent. It doesn't make the way in which he won unimpressive, but only puts it in perspective a bit. If Jones beats Stipe, which is likely in my opinion, this place will lose its mind like is has the last 24 hours, again, but given the fights available, it's the same thing.

There was a load of submissions last night. Maybe the most in any card I don't know. Still the result wasn't surprising, if Francis can take Gane down then Jones would've had no problem doing the same. Gane is a great striker but it will take years for him to catch up in the grappling department.

Im not a big jones hugger or hater. But last nights main event was pretty weak. We did not see a good fight. I hate 1st round flash KOs and quick fights. Because thats not a fight, in the sense that neither fighters heart was tested.

Everyone seems to be more focused on legacy and the celebrities just come to see history than a good fight.

Finishes in Championship Fights are preferred to leaving it up to the Judges.

Two Champ Fights -- both definitive finishes.

No endless Islam v. Volk grievances and dramas after a close fight placed in the hands of the judges.

4/5 Finishes on the Main Card -- UFC 285 was solid.

That's the beauty and curse of the sport. Anything can happen at any time.

I don't see how stipe wins that fight at his current age in any way. Jones looked big, strong and surprisingly LONG against Gane. I see a typical late Jones performance where he picks Stipe apart from the outside. Stipe is not very light on his feet, he doesn't have great reach, and the wrestling probably gets negated between the two.

Im not saying i dont like finishes. I just hate quick fights like conor/aldo and jones/gane. I dont even hate or like either of them. As a fight fan, i hate quick fights where 1 guy didnt get to show off his arsenal and fight.

jones/gane and aldo/conor just weren’t good fights because they didnt show anything.

The salt here on sherdog is real. I'm enjoying all these threads. It's a real salt mine here.
This is why i see people on here as immature. I’m not salty, look up my past posts, i picked Jones many times.

i just hate quick finishes, u guys are more into your guy winning and celebrating as if its some win for you. I dont hate jones nor hate gane. I am disappointed in quick fights that havent begun before they end. Even bo nickals win wasn’t impressive because we didnt get a chance to see his overall game, his striking, his chin, how he would deal with getting hit and adversity.

They showed the mosts important thing -- which fighter was dominant and definitively defeated their opponent for a Championship.

That's the purpose of the fight.

Fair enough I am talking about the other people who seem to be salty because they've hated Jones so much. I think for Bo you won't find anyone to show his game until someone stops the grappling, and this was his 1st UFC fight technically.

Imagine how people felt when Tyson fought Spinks

As a fight fan, i still want to see back n forth fights or even 1 sided beatings. It gives us more into the skills, heart and determination of fighters, as well as entertainment value. Who the hell pays 80 bucks for a ppv and its over in 2 minutes.

Yeah the salty haters will always be a thing.
As for bo, he may be great, but we haven’t seen him truly in deep waters.

when i see a champion or a great fighter, what makes them great is their ability to be in adverse situations and overcome. Gsp being dropped by condit, silva being wrestlefucked by chael, fedor getting wobbled by fujita, jones getting hit a lot by gus and so on. They had to show their heart and fight.

quick flash KOs or fights like a guy shoots in and gets guillotined or something just…..well, suck.

Bo is in a weird space where he's going to destroy any lower level opponent just with his wrestling alone, but still doesn't seem to be well rounded enough to implement it like Khabib does yet. Who knows though because I could see if Pereira/Izzy couldn't get a finish before Bo got ahold of them losing to him if he could close distance on them.

Should be a No Contest due to the obvious low blow knee missed by the ref. It definitely led to the finish. Pickett should get an immediate rematch, especially given how close the fight was going.

Is there any clips of Pickett complaining about it? Looked to me like he was kneed in stomach and grimaced.

I have favorites like everyone else but mostly I just want to see good, back and forth fights. I wanted to see Grasso and Jones win but was expecting Shev to be too strong for Alexa.
I really had no idea how Jones vs Gane was going to go and while it definitely wasn't a back and forth fight that I wanted, I was left with my mouth hanging at how easy Jones made that look.
