I just think the lw div has changed drastically since the merger.

Bj moved up, Diego moved up, florian went down, sean sherk disappeared

Benson is obviously the best addition with wins over the best guys even though I believe he lost to edgr twice.

Pettis lost to guida & beat imo two middle of the pack fighters in Stephens (featherweight) & Lauzon.

Cerrone beat up on oliveria, siver, & Stephens (all featherweights) & IMO middle of the pack lw's. lost to Diaz & beat guillard who is dangerous but you never know what your getting.

None of them have faught Maynard who is probably the only one left in the div that was near the top when the debate first started.

I think Maynard would beat both Cerrone and Pettis, his wrestling is too good and I don't think he would be subbed by them. But hey, you never know. Crazy shit happens in this sport.

Maynard lost to Edgar (featherweight). Actually, Frankie said he could make bantamweight, so Maynard lost to Edgar (bantamweight).

Is that how this works?

WEC LW's were and are great. the biggest surprise of any merger since Pride. so Pettis got LnP'd - it happens. so Cerrone is really good but not quite as good as Diaz - neither are most other LWs.

he may have gone a bit too far with his verbage. owell. they did better than YOU and EVERYONE ELSE expected. and that was his point.

The WEC lightweights had doubters, and lots of them. But they made their presence known in a big hurry, in particular the triumvirate of Henderson, Pettis and Cerrone. Those big three went a combined 8-2 in the UFC in 2011. In 2012, their success continued – going unbeaten at a combined 6-0.

"It surprised me how good the WEC guys did (in the UFC)," Pettis told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) earlier this month. "I mean, we're at the top of the top. Everybody doubted the WEC – our skills weren't good enough. And we proved everybody wrong. Henderson's at the top, I'm right there, me and Cerrone are about to fight for the No. 1 contender. We're all very well-skilled – the WEC had the best 155ers in the world, and now we're fighting to be at the top again."

if you'd just get the point instead of nitpick the specifics, you'd have already known this.

Has nothing to do with it lol. It's Wec vs ufc when the debate first started. How wec guys beat middle of the pack lw fighters & all the sudden pettis thinks they have the best lw's...they dont, when the debate first started the ufc lw division was stacked & in its prime. It's now filled with up & comers.

I'm not nitpicking the specifics I'm just stating facts. Pettis is comparing apples to oranges. I agree also Im surprised how well they are doing, but look who they are doing it to. The div is nowhere near what it use to be.

lol how do ppl think Edgar won the first one? he clearly won the 2nd fight but Ben clearly got the first one.

IMO I think pettis thinks because he beat Bendo and Bendo beat the better comp, that he's right p there in the mix when he really hasn't faced a top tier ufc lw

Yeah I didn't see the second fight but I thought that Benson won the first and didn't really see the controversy. I mean, I understand why some thought Edgar won but I don't get why they think it was such a stupid call on the judges part. It was a close fight

Most people agree Edgar won the first round and the 3rd and 5th rounds were close. I thought Benson won the first one but can see how you could score it for Frankie.

Yeah that's how it works.
