Media Diego Sanchez casts doubt on Calvin Kattar's ability to bounce back

Hard to not respect that honest take. He's 100% referencing the Bj fight.

Which in a sense makes me respect him more for never backing down and fighting all these years.

He shouldn't just eat asparagus tips and leave the stalks for everyone else though.

Tbf a lot of people said the same thing about Ortega after Max brutalized him now he's back arguably looking better than ever about to fight for a title. Depends on the person imo. Hope Calvin takes the time necessary to recover, shouldn't even spar for 6 months after a beating like that.
I mean he's had 1 fight since the beat down and looked great but he still has what... 2 years off?

That was messed up. Bonnar had a point there, pun intended.

except the part where he says it doesn't affect the mind, just the body.
I think body and mind are much too integrated for something to hurt the body and not touch the mind, but I don't think Sanchez was dishonest, just putting honest words to his own experience and understanding.

Nah kattar will recover. He's just not top 5 material.

Did he forget what he was talking about in the middle of this conversation?

I'm not saying he was dishonest, it seemed like it was honest talk from the heart. I just don't agree with him.

I thought the same thing about Ortega after his fight with Max. But now he (Ortega) looks great.

Let's wait and see how Kattar handles it.

ortega fight was stopped.

Just like Max would never be the same after the Poirier 2 fight?

Or Ortega wouldn't be the same after the Max fight?

I get what Diego is saying, but it's not like Calvin's career is over. Ppl have come back from similar losses

But long term health I agree, the damage ain't good

I guess he realises he never really recovered from his fights with BJ, Matt Brown, Al Iaquinta or Lauzon
not just those fights. ellenberger, kampman, melendez, and even some of his wins that he had to dog out to get the W

In 2000 Vitali Klitschko was dominating Chris Byrd, when he managed to injure himself. He decided to retire on his chair, despite bein clearly ahead on the scorecards. He could probably have continued the fight and gone out like a warrior, but instead he chose to remain seated, got himself healthy and went 18 and 1 in title-fights for the remainder of his career. Who knows if he would have accomplished that, if he had decided that he'd rather die than quit against Chris Byrd.

Lol if that guy trying to be slick and poke fun at Diego but Diego is just trying to be real as an actual fighter.

Everyone was saying the same about Ortega. He took some time off and now looking better than ever. Ortega might very well go out there and submit Volk.

Great point, totally agree.
Or the beating Conor recieved from Khabib, then came back against cerrone.
Max beating from Dustin
Many more.

Diego being brutally honest.
