I thought the cards would be closer even though Volk clearly won but the judges showed more competence than I'm used to. I figured Volk gave away round 1 and he'd lose r3 due to the flash knockdown. Now get Evloev in there, he actually has earned a shot.

It was razor close. I had Lopez round 3 and Volk round 2....

it's weird. DC, MMA Sports and a Sherdog judge gave round 2 to Diego, which I thought was the clearest round in favor of Volk. Yahoo sports gave Diego round 4.

Yeah I noticed that, aside from that foot to elbow, Volk checked many kicks that went foot to shin so most likely broke the other foot after a solid check.

Volk is just a level above Lopes.

I did not understand Lopez in that fight...all he did was feint, feint and more feints, smile, touch gloves (way too much) and acted all buddy buddy with a guy he should have been trying to beat...from bell to bell. He fought a technical fight against a better technical fighter....and appeared to be happy about it during the entire ordeal....pretty disappointing performance from him.

He really finds his flow when the fight finally somehow hits the ground. Lopes is so active and aggressive there. It's amazing to watch. At this point his striking is good enough. Maybe he should spend 90% of his training just improving his takedown offense. Improving his footwork would help both his striking and takedowns I guess.

I'm sure Volk is hurting from those kicks too. Hopefully he's not too injured so he can fight Murphy or Evloev soon.

I'd love to see Evloev vs Murphy, and him fight the winner. If Evloev wins he will basically have cleaned out the division outside of Volk. That'd be some serious GSP vs Fitch level shit. And honestly Volk has the skills to outclass him.

Lopes should take some time and heal up and not rush himself. He should also change camps.

Lopes is so flat footed and doesn’t throw low kicks off of feints or after jabs.

Volk so light on his feet and with good vision implementing those Aldo-style shin checks looks brutal.
