Did you lose respect for Bisping when a man punched him in front of his wife and he did nothing?

How do we know he fought some of the toughest men on earth?

You seriously believe the UFC or any organization scanned the earth and found all the best fighters?
Do you think there’s better poker players not on any recognized circuit? Do you beleive there’s better basketball players outside of the NBA?

Same shit. And no bro, seeing red doesn’t mean you or your buddy can beat up anyone in the ufc. There’s levels to this.

I know that all these alpha sherchad types can’t fathom such a concept, but sometimes, walking away is the best move. “Discretion is the better part of failure”. Maybe Mike didn’t want his daughter and son to see him in a street fight. Maybe the Bourbon St. Bitch had a weapon or some friends waiting in the wings. Maybe the punch didn’t hurt at all so Mike didn’t feel threatened. Mike offered him 1k to come spar one of his fat, out of shape, unskilled podcast producers, as well.

It's "discretion is the better part of valor" but overall I agree. If there's no follow up physical danger and escalating it further could generate legal problems for you I don't see a problem with not brawling.

Yes.

And I don't see red. That gets you rocked.

I see things like the Matrix in a fight.

I just don't get it, man.

Remember when the black man punched him in New Orleans? He did nothing. Then went on to talk about it countless times, seemingly trying to make himself feel better about freezing up in the moment.

Like, dude, you're a former UFC champion. You still workout daily. You're in great shape.

It really puts a stain on our sport when our fighters get bullied by randoms.
Not at all. It shows that he had no fear, and knew that the guy couldn't actually hurt him, and was smart because he probably would have completely fucked the guy up, which eventually leads to him paying the guy to make a pain in the ass court case go away, even if he would have won it.

If some two year old kicks me in the shins, it's probably more laudable that I don't blast him in the face with my hardest punch. He's no actual threat to me. You sound like someone who is incredibly insecure, especially if this bothers you so much. Bisping obviously isn't. That's the reason for the disconnect.

Oh okay, so just let grown men punch you in the face.

And you're insecure if you retaliate.

Rock on.

I'm also shocked by all the mental gymnastics people have going on in here to justify Bisping doing nothing. Some of you sound like you've never left the house.
Mental gymnastics? What do you want him to have done?

Knock the guy out in front of his wife and kids where they are tourist and this guy potentially has lowlife friends with weapons?

Or

Laugh it off and get out of there, where his family is safe and they don't spend the whole night dealing with the police at best or a bunch of lowlifes at worst.
--------------

It's not like he doesn't get punched in the face for a living and if he is to be believed, the punch didn't hurt him.

You think people are suddenly going to think they can beat up Bisping and his wife and kids think their dad is suddenly weak because he walked away from creating a scene during a family vacation?

Good chance that guy doesn't end his night as lucky if Bisping isn't with his wife and kids. If you're a dad with small children there's no excuse to put your ego over doing everything possible to diffuse the situation at that point for your kids safety.

If I were a pro fighter, I would still do what I do now- carry fogger pepper spray for guys like that. I would have sprayed him before he got close enough to hit me, and most certainly would have sprayed him good if he did manage to hit me.

It's the one thing you can do to someone without much worry over legal percussions, provided you use it on someone being aggressive.

It's not like you have to worry about getting sued for hurting or killing someone, which is the case if you choose to go hands-on.

Very relatable. I’m honestly a lot like a prime Anderson Silva. Tonight I’m going to beat up a 35 year old dad on skates in front of 1500 drunk people and I’ll make my ufc title run starting from there.

I can hear this gif.

Depends on the situation. If some asshole swings on me and does no damage to me, because he's laughably inept, yeah, I don't need to fuck him up.

And, yes, you're INCREDIBLY insecure if you're worried about that somehow making you lose your manhood, and even more incel-insecure if seeing someone else choose to walk away twists you into knots.

When I took martial arts, my biggest takeaway was that I was confident enough to walk away from confrontations (not that I've had any that required walking away from since then).

Most of those kinds of fights are two people terrified to actually fight, but even more afraid that showing weakness will encourage the other one. So they bluster and make noise, like a prey animal trying to bluff a predator. Except you have two scared people trying to bluff the other.

When you see a pocket-purse yipper dog run into a Doberman, which one makes all the noise? The one that's terrified.

All this talk about legal consequences, but has anyone looked up Louisiana law? There's precedent for mutual combat, and "force for force" is allowed.

Yep.

Any fucker looks in the direction of my shadow, I’m eating their livers.

Don’t get close to me.

I scored 4 touchdowns in a high school game and am still an high achiever.

Fries with that, sir?

If Bisping turned that shite into a vegetable he would have gotten way more shit IRL as well here online. He was in a lose-lose situation.

He probably found out how much the lawyers charged Joe Shilling to defend him against a lawsuit.

That's criminal law, basically "stand your ground." What almost everyone is talking about is civil/tort liability. That law doesn't shield you from that.

Is that you, Al?

I didn't know this happened, but no, I don't think less of Bisping. He did the smart thing. How many Shergoggers are going to say Bisping is a pussy and he's ducking the street thug now? LOL
