The 1993 anime was fantastic but from what I've seen of it, the live action version is missing something. Many faithful recreations of key scenes however. Christoph Walz looks perfectly cast as Ido.

Like most folks in the thread, I came in with low expectations but actually liked it. Nothing great but easy and enjoyable to watch.

@-Magua- your post has been deleted but yeah, the anime was pretty great and I put it up there with Akira and Fist of the North Star for old school anime. One bit of unintentional comedy in the original was the name of Alita/Gally's love interest was "Yugo" instead of "Hugo" as in the live action version. When I first saw it, I was like how come Ido built an A-level super cyborg body for Gally but the body he put Yugo in was a total piece of shit?
