I watched the last two PPVs at movie theaters in two different states, both were similar in that there weren't too many people watching. Maybe 20-30. Definitely a much more subdued crowd than at a sports bar. My guess is it's maybe a slightly more knowledgeable crowd since going to a movie theater to see UFC feels like a more deliberate choice compared to watching it in a sports bar or BWW. If you went to a theater you came to see something as opposed to just getting a meal or some drinks or hanging with friends.
Biggest downside to watching a PPV in a theater is they probably won't show the prelims. The showing starts when the PPV feed starts, so before that it's just a blank screen. I say probably because the second time I went I got there a few minutes late, but the first time there were no prelims.
Funny thing, last time it started raining pretty hard at the theater and the feed cut out for a minute. Thankfully it was between fights so I didn't miss anything important.
