Possibly. But that’s like asking if the gloves factor into cuts. It is what it is. It’s a freak accident not a common problem.

Fair point. But historically, this is more of a freak occurrence than a common problem. I feel like the glove design is a bigger problem (because of eye pokes). So sure, MAYBE the ankle sleeves may have contributed to that gash, but it's not a common enough problem to make considerations for rule changes or excuses. Again, it was just a freak occurrence.Except they HAVE to wear gloves and they don't have to wear ankle sleeves.
