Did Ngannou really think there was a market for him outside the UFC?

There is no Wilder fight. And even if there were, Wilder is not some huge draw. He's spent most of his career in 4000 seaters in Alabama.
Maybe you should fight Francis let's see you fill a stadium only to get sent to the shadow realm.

I'll hold my thoughts until Francis signs a deal. I'll admit it doesn't look great at the moment but we will see if his management team can get something worthy together.

Whether in another MMA org, Boxing, or Kickboxing…

Fans from other sports like Boxing or Kickboxing are far too educated to buy into a rudimentary striker even being able to compete with their athletes let alone go straight to the top of the food chain… they’re not paying for a squash match.

Meanwhile he’s pricing himself out of MMA despite not being a draw.

What are the motives behind Ngannous career self sabotage?

It has a market, it's just a matter of getting the right boxer at the right time in his career. Serious boxers probably don't want to disrupt their career if they have title aspirations.

I'm sure Ngannou wants to get paid, but I've never gotten the idea that he is a very money motivated person. I just don't feel he comes across as someone that will be too upset with whatever money he makes outside the UFC. Just my 2 cents; I could be wrong.

After the afformentioned
and not even close to being made
match.
Ngannou is delusional,
what next?
He takes a loss and gets paid, ok cool. Now what?
How is your legacy remembered?
rematch the same fighters with no promotion?

The OP'er is on ignore...
the (spelled) "aforementioned" match
is not even addressed.

You're questioning yourself, with run-on sentences.
Answering your own revelations... about promotions, matches, legacies, even getting paid.
Literally, had to clean up that rabbling... just to understand.
Why you even need a response ... is a mystery.

If you're implying there is no market outside the UFC, that is ridiculous.

Welcome to the ignore list.

Casual,

confirmed.

He's not the brightest bulb.

I think his pride is just hurt by Dana White. They need to figure it out.

There's not huge money to be made for him in the UFC considering his talent level. He was likely offered 20 million over an 8 fight contract and only if he remained champion over that period. He can make that much outside of the UFC depending on how often he wants to fight.

Realistically he can expect to earn the following from the various promotions available to him:

Big Boxing Fight (Wilder, Fury, Joshua) - 5 mil
Small record padding boxing fight (Cab Driver) - 200,000 per fight
Bellator - 1 to 1.5 mil per fight
PFL - 3 to 4 mil per season or 2 mil for a super fight
ONE - 1 to 1.5 per fight, plus equity in some money laundering front.
BKFC - 2 to 3 mil per fight

That is absurd.

Tbh not enough time has passed for us to discern that no ones interested in Francis. In terms of MMA if Francis doesn't go to Bellator there's really nowhere with a stable of fighters to fight Francis. Like if he signs with PFL or ONE who tf are they going to match him up with? ONE is only a major org at the smaller classes like Shooto used to be at the upper weight classes it's really bad or at least it was last time I checked. It's not just a matter of signing Francis and gaining prestige they have to put on fights.

In terms of boxings more educated fans the list of lopsided matches that did a shit ton of PPV buys is long.....very long. And Conor doing well against Floyd(better than most his elite boxing opponents) will convince some Francis has a chance. He doesn't but you bet your ass the general public is going to want to see Wilder v Francis more than they want to see most boxing fights.

Francis will make more money in 1 fight against either Fury or Wilder than he would've made staying in the UFC. Francis has a brawlers chance of KO'ing either fighter its a very slim chance but it could possibly happen. If that ends up being the case he stands to make even more money against his next opponent or in a rematch. Not bad considering he no longer has to deal with the way the disrespect and peanut pay he received from Dana and UFC head honchos.

I can understand wanting more freedom and Dana can be too stubborn in his thinking sometimes, but Francis left at a bad time. He has had three fights in the past three years and the Gane win (in his last fight in the UFC) was pretty bland/boring and pretty close until the last round and it didn't make him seem like some sort of beast on the feet or otherwise. Now with Jones coming in after a long layoff, looking a bit chubby, and still running through Gane early in round 1 it makes Francis look even worse and really killed a lot of his hype.
I know he couldn't really be in deep talks with another organization while still under contract with the UFC, but he needed to have a general idea that he'd have something able to be set up soon after he left to keep his name out there.

I think it comes ultimately down to Ngannou not wanting to bend the knee for Dana White. Fedor didn't and lots of other fighters simply do not like uncle fester. I think it's reasonable to assume, whatever org he signs with, PFL or One FC, will be able to match and pay more than what he was making in the UFC, not their most recent offer. I think he also gets to do a big boxing match as part of that contract and that is what he will do. who knows if it pays more in the long run, or if it works out in his favor? it's interesting in 2023, we have the highest level UFC HW title holder, champion, prospect, actually leaving the organization for another one. to me, it's good for the sport, it gets people talking, and should ultimately get more views for another org, which is always good. more competition, is better. forces everyone to up their game.
