Did Ngannou really think there was a market for him outside the UFC?

Your value and negotiation strength are only as relevant as the number of offers you have.

UFC has withdrawn their offer.

Bellator basically said Francis priced himself out.

Glory / PFL / One / Rizin / other combat orgs didn’t make any offer.

Fury / Wilder expressed some verbal interest but so far no concrete offers according to all parties.

So if noone is bidding for you, you might be theoretically worth X but in reality you are currently worth zero.

Not a good situation for Francis unfortunately … and with a new UFC HW champion plus over a year of inactivity, his marketability is worsening daily.

Sadly might end up being the worst career mismanagement in the history of the sport.

Fury, Wilder, Dillian Whyte have all talked about a potential fight with him so what are you talking about?

How many still care after seeing Gane embarrassed in a couple of mins? Or after he loses 1 of those fights? I wish him well but that big pot of gold he saw outside of the UFC just doesn't exist. The fact that he was said to be in talks with Glory, which was filing for bankruptcy a few years ago ans where the big names are leaving is not looking good for him

Dana and the ufc just seem like an absolute nightmare to be entangled in a contract with. That being said, everything has its price. What it was worth for Francis to deal with their shit was more than they wanted to pay. Seems pretty simple.

Other than he will be just fine you have to be trolling, we are still waiting but i doubt he gets a super lucrative boxing offer, why? There is nothing to promote him with that they could use, nothing, no belt, sure "lineal" UFC champion, but the UFC isnt behind it, no highlight reel for them to use, Fury vs Ngannou along the UFC would have been pretty big, now? a lot of people probably already forgot about "that guy" he brought into the ring once, the one he used to tweet about it but not any more, he will get some offers, but nothing too crazy, the MMA world cant pay him x times more than what the UFC offered, and Boxing can, but they are not that interested imo.

Look at what happened to mighty mouse when he left the UFC. He made a ton of money. And noone cares about mighty mouse. Francis in some regards is still the UFC Heavyweight champion. He's going to make a big splash wherever he goes. There will be a point in the near future when the UFC regrets their decision. Especially after Stipe beats the crap out of Jones and sends him into retirement.

He will probably make his whole ufc contract fighting Wilder in what should be a wildly entertaining fight. So yeah, I think he’s going to do just fine.
Why would Wilder fight him when no one knows him and there’s no highlight reel to show?

Yea, 40 year old Stipe that was KO’d by the shell of DC and is coming off of a long layoff after getting flatlined by a jab is the one to dethrone Jones…
Keep the delusion alive!!!

Yeah, we won't really know if it was a mistake or not till 2025. If Ngannou can get a fight due to another one falling through it might have been the right move and boxing match ups fall through all the time.

I can't see Ngannou thinking he should get 50%, he would be the B side against Fury or AJ, with Wilder he might be able to get a bigger percentage since Wilder isn't much of a draw.

I hope it does work out for him. I personally would love to see him in a boxing match and see how he matches up with Wilder. I hope he gets it going soon, he's already been inactive since Jan 2022.

He probably had people around him talking about how a boxing match was a easy deal, maybe had already started talking to some promoters or something that lead him to believe that. Plus, Fury was talking about it was well.

And, to be fair, he did say on a number of ocasions that his falling out with the UFC was more than just about money.
If you don't like where you work, the people you work with, you leave even if they try to give you a raise, it's normal.
It’s not normal when we’re talking millions of dollars and there are no serious or comparable opportunities/competitors in your profession throughout most of the world.

DJ Got traded, ONE most likely got something in the deal, here Ngannou is on his own, with a trophy belt at home.

Floyd's retired. Fury is the WBC champ and has obligations. You think a total novice who is pushing 40 can just jump the queue?
Yes, or they can do it without the WBC, who will be in, why? they will collect, they can go as far as making one time belt like the BMF, they do it all the time in boxing, they gave Tommy Fury a belt ffs.

No, he really thought there was no market for him so he quit the UFC to pursue boxing. Does that make any sense to you? Of course he thought there was a market there and there is, despite what all the shills keep repeating with glee. There are many many posters (see this thread) who have posted over and over to shit on Francis to support the UFC's narrative, that tells me all I need to know about who to believe.
No offense but you sound like a try hard, wanna-be-edgy douche bag.

Wishful thinking. There’s no footage for Ngannou to promote so in reality, he is an almost 40, former MMA fighter that hasn’t fought in almost 2 years and is a rank amateur in Boxing. There’s no “super fight.”

We are on the same boat, i was just saying that the WBC has no shame and they will be on board.
