Some key things to pick up from this interview in short. It's not looking good

Ngannou has no management representing him in boxing or MMA, he has been dealing with the UFC and several other promotions directly

Doesn't believe Boxing or other MMA promotions will demand the same exclusivity the UFC does

Believes Boxing organizations will let him fight one big money fight with no commitment or loyalty

Has no idea what his plan is going forward but ideally wants to compete in boxing and MMA

Wants Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua

Hasn't heard from any major boxing promotions

Mentions later on in the interview when Ariel asks about a Wilder fight that, Ngannou knows about Wilder currently having contract issues with his promoter much similar to his own with the UFC

Asks Francis about any potential match ups outside the UFC that would interest him, which he says "I can't tell, but if i go somewhere we can figure it out". Not a good sign

Boxing works similar to the UFC in the sense that they're going to demand a multi fight deal just like the UFC would. Francis never seemed like the sharpest knife in the drawer, but this is worrying for anyone on the side of Ngannou. You would think he'd have already had another boxing/MMA venture already worked out prior to his exit from the UFC and get on it instantly. But with no management, platform or funding from anything else there's no conceivable way he goes into a negotiation room with an MMA or boxing promotion being his sole and only advocate and doesn't get ripped to shreds or bamboozled. He has seemingly completely and totally fucked himself

You watched mma guru didn’t you?
This thread is like a copy/paste of his last video

He is kind of right regarding boxing, not so sure on the MMA orgs letting him do what he wants tho, MMA orgs own the belts and the promotions, which means they wont sign him for 1-off title fights that easy.

I don't quite believe it when he said he was 275 or 277lbs right now. His face in the Helwani interview looked frankly fat and his upper body did too. Now fair enough he has no fight scheduled etc etc and all that...........but I can easily see him being 290 or 300lbs so I just dont quite believe his 277lbs number. Not that that details matters much in itself, but it's just an indication that maybe he's not being quite truthful about everything.

Ngannou when he loses the PFL tourney.

Francis is probably close to retirement.

Better off getting a big boxing payday, and maybe a PFL Tournament win... and call it a career and enjoy his money while he still has his senses and doesn't make injuries worse that can fuck with his everyday life (back, knee, etc).

He'll make enough money in One or PFL, well enough.

he will be able to box and probaly make more money in 2 fights than entire UFC career.

he wont' have to suck Danas behind like all others must and be a slave.

He's a true alpha. He got my respect.

They offered him 8m for the Jones fight (in his own words) … no way any other organization can pay even half that for a tournament (not one fight) and even in boxing it’s a stretch for him, especially as it’s not anymore about a boxing champion vs the UFC heavyweight champion with the UFC promo machine behind him, he’s now a former like other formers and not one who is very good at marketing himself.

I think he messed up on this one. Considering the fact that this contract was only gonna be for 3 fights, I think he overplayed his hand.

It's delusional to think that one fighter, who is not a significant PPV draw btw, and one short term contract would change the landscape of MMA. I think only Connor at the height of his popularity, success, and status as a legit fighter, could've made such demands. But the UFC still wouldn't have budged for him alone. He would've had to sit down with all the champions, etc and get them on board.

I love Francis and the fighters more than I do the UFC, but he blew it on this one. ESPECIALLY considering that it was ONLY for 3 fights. As he said, fight Jones, do the Stipe trilogy, then Jones again. That could've been accomplished in one year. He wins all 3, his stock goes through the roof and he has even more power and leverage. I don't think he gets a better deal/opportunity anywhere else.

I think it was a greed, and unfortunately an ill-advised one.

It was a 8 million GUARANTEED against Jon Jones, and Ngannou likely would have taken very little damage even IF he did lose, but I think Ngannou would have ran through Jon Jones, and I rate Jones as the most talented guy I've ever seen in history of MMA. And there would've been the mainstream exposure by beating someone like Jon Jones and side money off that fight. And I think he would've gone 3-0 in those three fights, whereas boxing will most likely be one off. Even if he somehow lost, he would have likely taken very little damage to his health, but who is really beating him?

He will get a bad beating in boxing, like the worst beating of his lifetime, and his last ppv did 300k, and they can't use ufc footage to hype up the fight, he can't really box, he has no leverage left, and Fury talks a lot of shit. Will that fight even happen, and if it does, will it be necessarily bigger money and will the beating be worth it?

I agree, it was a mistake and a huge one for someone at his advanced career stage. Tyson Fury/Anthony Joshua may well do an exhibition/side show fight, but they have already been paid plenty, so they could just as easily forget about it and poor Frank is left out in the cold.

Just look at Fury Vs Usyk falling appart and Fury's camp being more than happy paying Ngannou a bargain of 15-20 millions to face Fury at Wembley or in Saudi Arabia.

Peoples would tune in and PPV number would be great even if this fight would be a joke.
