Did beating Gane improve the Legacy of Jones?

1-1 in his last two is a hilarious way to put "The number one ranked heavyweight who had only previously lost to the champion in close decision", but you have fun.
It is factual. He was 1-1 in his last 2 prior to the Jones fight.

Jones is without a doubt the best MMA fighter in history but he's also a terrible human
Nobody should accuse me of being a Jones Stan XD I cried for a week after he beat Shogun (My favorite fighter XD) And I hate watched him for years after xd wishing for his demise xd
So I agree - Talent is talent!!

Jones fans run from factual information the way Jon runs from drug tests.

then it's fair to compare the two as

Gane was 3-1 in his last 4

Aspinall is 3-1 in his last 4
Sure. Gane's loss was being outwrestled by a striker with 1 working knee.

Aspinall suffered a freak injury 15 seconds into the fight and avenged it by finishing Blaydes in minute when they rematched.

Loss bs "loss".

I'd imagine so. Jones haters bitch about it and pretend he is ducking people, but the biggest thing that jones haters hate about him is him winning.
I am a Jones hater (just personally, I think he's the best to ever fight) and there no doubt beating Gane improved an already awesome legacy. But if he doesn't fight Aspinall after he dismantles Stipe there will be whispers of ducking - no getting around it.

It was a very efficient win. I didn't see anything spectacular like we saw from him 10 years ago. It was also a very short fight of course.
I remember reacting like when he walked out, Jones looks fat and terrible o. O then he just went obese terminator on Gane LOL
Will be interesting to watch him against Stipe!

A lot. I had Gane by KO.
Thank you :D At least you are honest!! I remember many Sherdoggers who swore Gane would destroy Jones and then switched completely after the fight and suddenly Gane was just a can and a foregone conclusion that he never had a chance ><

He sat by the side for years to wait for the weakest champion (skills wise relative to Jones) for a long time. I think it's similar to GSP coming back to take out Bisping. Impressive on paper but does not stand up to proper scrutiny

At least Bisping was the reigning, lineal MW UFC champion and also had the Pride welterweight lineage (183 pounds for those not around for Pride).

It may have been a cherry pick in real terms because the bastard had one eye, but he was still the undisputed champ.

Much different to fighting a French kickboxer who was never champ at any stage in a vacant bout and pretending your belt is not made of paper.

Or did beating Gane diminish it somewhat?

Discuss... (In spirit of all the Jon legacy threads...)
i suggest you watch nganou vs gane

gane should have been already a champ if he didnt went for the submission

he blasted nganou on the feet
outclinched nganou
he got taken down but nganou cant even deal damage
he actualy took nganou down the moment he tried lmfao

it actually shows you how low skilled these HWs are

Beating Aspinall would no doubt improve his legacy, beating Gane just showed that he can outgrapple a French kickboxer who's notorious for ducking wrestlers, got wrestlefucked by Ngannou for 3 rounds in his previous fight, and was unable to ever become champ of a very shallow/weak division.

Jones had next to no success grappling three years prior against Santos and Reyes, but before the fight said something to the tune of "if a guy like Francis can beat him with wrestling, just imagine what I'm going to do".

So Jones has been saying since 2012 that he wants the HW belt, but only decided to make the jump when the perfect matchup presented itself.

Gane and relic Stipe do nothing for his legacy.

no need to elaborate that Ganes loss was to the champion and a 5 rounder

Aspinalls loss was to a gatekeeper

logic goes both ways bruh

Not really. when you injured yourself 15 seconds into a fight the caliber of competition doesn't matter. He could have got injured against Arlovski or Jake Collier, wouldn't take anything away from what he's done in the sport.

By the way that gatekeeper would handily beat Ciryl Gane and everybody, including you, knows it.

why is Aspinall ducking Ciryl if that's the case?

since he's such a better fighter, should be a very easy $1M payday right?

You aren't even trying are you?

Aspinall called Gane out 3 times dating back to 2021. Gane refused all 3 times.

Yes. The fight would be easy for Aspinall. 1st round sub. Blaydes would win a clear 30-27 or 50-45 against Gane with his wrestling.

Gane was not champ and lost a wrestling match to Francis.

Nobody is impressed, except casuals.

Jones legacy is muddy due to his behaviors.

As far as fighting, his behaviors overlap.

Hiding under octagon to avoid drug testing, crashing into pregnant woman & running away (twice), the dick pill story for using steroids, the arrest for drinking & driving, the three year absence leading to a conveniently timed return, and the current situation detailed above.

Hollow cherry picked win for a fake belt

Jones ducked Ngannou and now is just fighting his left overs in Gane and Stipe

LHW GOAT for sure but his HW run is nothing but a farce

Dipshits here probably went back and deleted all of their "Whoa, Gane is so much more young, he's going to dart around Jones all night!" posts.
Yes it helps his legacy.
