Social Dick Cheney has died

Yeah, and the majority of Dems voted to authorize war in Iraq to set that up and were complicit in maintaining the occupation; loads of civilians were killed by drone bombing by Obama in the continuation of that war (Mosul?). There are a variety of perspectives in looking at and chopping up who is responsible for these things. We like to blame those we disagree with, but that's because it feels good, that doesn't mean it's honest. I don't think it's wrong to opine that someone is a bad person, but to demonize them as evil is another thing. Not only is it irrational because people are complicated, but it's also divisive, which I don't think we need.
There being other people who are morally culpable, whether to lesser extent or not, does not absolve Cheney. Let alone he had a signficantlly larger role in the deception and disaster than Congress.

And I can agree that evil is not usually a useful descriptor for people, but Cheney's banal sort of evil (mostly ambition and hubris) was damaging enough I don't have any issue with people calling him a shitbag. And mind you I think the we invaded Iraq for oil argument is lazy and does a disservice to how much Cheney and others fucked up.

The difference is at what level is it evil vs bad.. I think unnecessary wars/mass deaths + violence = evil.. offensive statements or controversy etc. are bad, not evil. There is definitely a line.

I think someone who causes mass death can be labeled evil - don't care what side they are on. I hate hawkish politicians who send people to danger and death to make themselves feel good. Let them go to the front lines if they believe in it so badly. War and violence should always be the last resort, ESPECIALLY when you are sending other human lives to do the fighting for you.

I remember when he was the Boogieman, and all Leftists hated him.

This deserves more than a like. It’s like you were inside my head putting into words that I could not.

How about read a history book. as MSNBC says, he is the definition of true patriotism, calling balls and strikes as they are

he lied about Iraq's involvement in 9/11 and their possession of a WMD program which cost over a million lives and trillions of dollars. Hardly balls and strikes.

I assume the double yellows are going to fly rampantly ITT.

I do like Liz so I'm sad for her.

That’s your sick burn? That Dems are willing to build coalitions with Republicans who realize we are a better option than MAGA, or collaborate with people that we have some policy differences with us?
Yeah, sure. You tout the "coalition"(LOL) with the Cheney's like it's positive and some unique democrat quality to reach across the aisle, meanwhile Trump has RFKjr and Tulsi Gabbard in his administration, yet all they get from you is scorn.

You're so full of shit, dude.

What about RFK SHOULDN'T be met with scorn? He's a crackpot.

RIP to him and condolences to his family, but man he fucked this country in a non-consensual way.

I just don’t know what sounds better to remember him as. “Advocate for democracy”, “ambassador for democracy”, or “defender of democracy”.
He helped American soldiers plant millions of freedom seeds all over the Middle East
