If this is true....and I hope to God it is not.....and Conor loses again, they are going to keep on giving him rematches until he wins or dies, lol. The UFC wants that Conor/Ronda money above all else.
 
Honestly it's a dumb idea..

Conor a FW needs to prove that he can defend his belt before he moves up in weight. The RDA fight was a 1 time offer to see if McGregor could hold two belts. It's ridiculous to think that the result would be any different than the first time, given the results and how fresh it is in everyone's mind.

They can still build that fight up later if Conor can pull another win streak together so there really isn't any reason to rush.

If we're going with nonsense match-ups to focus on money instead of fights that make sense, let's just go with Conor (delusional fan GOAT) vs. GSP (Hardcore fan GOAT). Let them have their glory of having Conor beat GSP in the war of words as Conor calls him over-the-hills, but then have GSP wrestle-fuck the hell out of Conor and make him look silly for 5 rounds straight.
 
I don't get it. McGregor was training for a 5 round title fight with RDA, while Diaz had 11 days to prepare and McGregor still got starched.

How is the result expected to be any different when Diaz now has a full camp? He walked through Conor's best shots like they were nothing.

Plus what kind of champion doesn't want the glory of defending their belt?
 
Off the top of my head I have to assume this fight is happening because Conor really doesn't feel like he can make it back down to Featherweight again, at least not in time for UFC 200. They're going to go with the Diaz rematch and, possibly, wait to strip him of the featherweight belt until after UFC 200 to keep his appeal up for the PPV. They may announce Frankie and Aldo 2 for the interim featherweight belt.

They're going with Nate and Conor 2 because no heavier weight fight makes sense for Conor anymore. He just lost against Diaz, so they can't just slot him against RDA or Lawler, and making him fight someone ranked under Diaz can't main event a PPV.

This fight isn't as damaging for the UFC as people are making it out to be, it's much more risky for Conor individually. Either the UFC gets their superfight golden goose back or they fuel one last PPV off the remnants of Mcg's superstardom.

This fight would make sense if it was at 155. It would sell better with the fans as it would be a new twist. Nate is just too long and too big for Conor.
 
Fun, sure. But it really makes no sense other than trying to save face for Conor while holding up the FW title. Poor decision for all the wrong reasons in my opinion. Nate wins again and it backfires tremendously. I hope that happens so the UFC learns a lesson. And I find it very likely.
