There is no one pound grace in title fights. It's understandable you didn't know this because you're not a professional fighter about to fight for the title of the largest MMA organisation in the world, but I can't figure out why Diaz and his team weren't professional enough to make sure he made weight. Keep'n it real I guess.

He made weight

Here is a medal for you sir, you're the 100th to say this to the same guy. Keep keeping it real, I mean not paying any attention to other posters and repeating things all over again.

lol at two idiots with 'blunt' in their usernames jumping on this one.

I don't know how to make the comment any more tongue in cheek than adding a laughing face to it. I thought you people were supposed to be chill?

So what makes me an idiot? I think you need to re-evaluate your life.

But if you've ever seen Finding Forrester, you'll know that using a conjunction to open a sentence can be used to help that sentence stand out. And you can now move along junior.

You would have got me had you not forgotten the comma. You better move along and edit that, junior.

I wrestled in highschool, i know about cutting weight. What I meant is were talking about Diaz they are known for being on weight and in shape, its not like were dealing with Thiago Alves or Rumble johnson here

Actually, Nick had some issues with making weight before. 160 for the first Noons fight? I think that was it.

RENO?!?!

I'm surprised you even know how to spell the name of your city right

More and more this place becomes a place for babies to whine and complain and insult fighters and coaches.

We have had fighters in the past fighting in weight classes they don't even belong in, cutting massive amounts of weight, that have missed weight by being several pounds over the limit.

Yes Cesar Gracie and Nick Diaz should have known that you don't get that extra 1 pound for title fights, but really I'm sure there are bigger mistakes one could make then get confused over 1 pound.

.6 pounds is nothing, especially on the first weigh in. Diaz will lose it easily and make weight on his 2nd weigh in.

I don't really follow other sports. On other forums, do people bash the hell out of athletes and coaches over nothing, or is that just sherdog?

everyone with bashing depending on a scale he could of been 155 or 156 same thing happened to alves with mike dolce he was a lbd over because of their scale said he was on weight not a big deal.. He could have taken off his shorts tho what's up with that??

It's people period on any subject ever. Hate will never die.

Jesus Christ there's a lot of whinny bitches in this thread.

  • Fighters do not have any weight allowance in a title fight.
  • He has 2 hrs to lose the extra weight.
  • 0.6 lbs is very easy to lose in that time.
  • Missing initial weigh is very common.
  • It's not unprofessional, embarrassing, ignorant, rare, and most importantly it's not a big deal.

You people need to take a chill pill!

/thread from here on out.

What in hell are you people on about? Excuses for what? He MADE WEIGHT! The time allowance wasn't invented tonight for Nate Diaz. It's part of the process. I repeat my earlier assessment: Sherdog is home to too many idiots.

Keep ignoring the facts. We all saw the look on both Diaz faces when Dana told them Nate was overweight. We all saw how Nate reacted: confused, frustrated, pissed off. He didn't know what to do or where to go. He even came back later, weighted .2 over and had to stay there to re-re try to weight in.

Do you think it was his plan all along to drink on stage then whoops I've got to re-weight damn I missed again let's re-weight again?

Meanwhile, here's a pic of Bendo just before the weight-ins::

Doesn't that tell you anything?

Yes, he has awful shoes or whatever lady slippers those are

And where did you pick up this misguided notion? James Joyce started many sentences with "and" and he's the greatest novelist whose works I've never read.

Yeah... if you're using Joyce as your touchstone for proper grammar, and a clear and concise writing style, then you probably aren't making a lot of sense. What makes for a great novel doesn't make for a great essay. Then again, the same can be said for a post Sherdog.

And I have read Joyce's works.

yes that someone made an honest mistake of .6 pounds. that that person was possibly flustered because they were surprised. that person does not have nearly the same amount of experience making weight as people who have wrestled much of their lives (like Henderson.) Admit you are just looking for any reason to hate on Diaz.

Do you think it's Bendo plan to be this relaxed before the fight? If it is why did he get into Nates face at the weigh in? Is Nate getting into Bendos head? I think he is and the pressure of trying to handle Nates shit talking will get to him. Nate wins via Bendo knocking himself out on the way to the ring thinking about Nate mean mug he's about to endure.
WUT? WUT? WUT? WUT?

Nates mean mug > Sauna

No. As someone who has been involved in weigh-ins for a quarter of a century either as the person being weighed, the coach of the person being weighed, or the person conducting the weigh-in, it doesn't tell me a damned thing. Sorry to burst your bubble.
