Diablo 2 Resurrected

So did they make so many changes that all builds are viable now?

Yes. Previous patch killed immunities with the introduction of Sunder charms and brought all classes up; with Cold Sorc being the big winner due to Cold Mastery further reducing enemey resistance. Current patch elevated Martial Arts Sins from off meta uber killers to demigod status if you can get two Mosaic runeword claws as you can maintain charges indefinitely and spam finishers.

Barb still sucks but viable.

Sounds gay. I stop playing d2 just too much time even tho I was multi boring hehe

I think it's an overall improvement. Sunder charms aren't the end all be all. They reduce your resistance to the corresponding element by -70 at a minimum and -90 at max, enemy resistances are "broken" and reduced to 95% and reduction from other sources applies at like 1/5 effectiveness. Basically a stop gap until you farm Infinity. Really good trade fodder in early ladder and hold up ok after the first week.

Another plus is fire builds are actually playable unlike in vanilla LoD as even Infinity can't break certain immunes.

hope you got a pair of sunglasses handy if you want to run this build, or join any public games where other people are.

i expect mosaic to get nerfed hard after this ladder season ends though. may as well enjoy it while it lasts.

i don't think this was supposed to be intentional. i wonder how many people are going to end up with permanent vision damage because of this though?! mr llama warned you guys you're gonna want to put your sunglasses on for this one. i gotta tell you guys, he wasn't kidding either.

the sunder charms made blizzard sorc's insanely OP because of the synergy between cold mastery and the sunder effect. you could effectively negate the enemies resistances entirely, elites and champions and everything once you put max out cold mastery and get the rest through +skills from your gear and rocked the cold rupture charm. you didnt even need infinity on your merc either.

they pretty much nerfed cold mastery to be 1/5th as effective against sundered enemies. well it was a bit of a heavy nerf, but it was just enough enough to slow the cold sorc down a bit. the nerf isnt even really noticeable if youre only in a game by yourself, or on players 1. even without an infinity on your merc.

before the nerf a cold sorc could keep up with and even outdamage lightning sorc's decked out with all the GG gear. now its still alot more feasable with the sunder charm, but its been brought down a good bit. as it should be, as cold sorc's are rather budget friendly and easy to spec out. i've got everything except my torch and deaths fathom in just the first week of ladder. and both items arent even that expensive to trade for at all. whereas if i want to do a lightning sorc its gonna take me a good while of using the cold sorc to farm up the runes or items and do enough wheeling and dealing just to get my infinity and griffons eye, let alone all the rest of the stuff. either that or get lotto lucky on the rune drops!

the amount of time and investment it would take to properly spec up an endgame cold sorc with the cold rupture charm is miniscule compared to an endgame lightning sorc. whereas the damage and clearspeed between them was about the same. there was almost no reason to really want to make the investment in a lightning sorc, or basically any other build with the way the blizzard sorc was broken at the time. the nerf had to happen.

but i thought it was hilarious because i just finished hell in the first week of the 2nd ladder season, i barely had any gear at all for my cold sorc, not even a spirit shield or any of my endgame gear at all. but i traded for a cold rupture charm and switched all my points into cold skills and got that all set up. i'm barely at level 80 and someone spawns uber diablo onto the servers. i had no business even taking him on in my current state but i was like YOLO, lets do this! it took alot of potions and running back and forth between towns to refill potions but i managed to get him down. a few weeks later when ive got all my gear and now every time someone brings in dclone i can melt him in seconds, even without using anything on him to prevent his heal.

the blizzard sorc was just completely OP the way things were that ladder. i had no interest in playing any other class because i just didnt see the point. i could melt everything down in every single terror zone and every area of the game and never had to worry about enemy immunities, and i didnt have to farm up an infinity, enigma or griffons or anything like that either. it was just casualized scrubbery at its finest.

i mean shit, you didnt need to set up specific builds for anything. no more time getting your pally smiter for ubers, bye bye pitzerker and trav horker. you remember that hammerdin you spent your retirement savings on? well shit bro, he's gonna have to move aside for that cold sorc too. you want MF? just go tals, war travs and shako all day baby! the one build to rule them all lol.

even after the nerf this season, the blizz sorc with the sunder charm is still in a good place. once the sunder charms came out it brought their effectiveness through the roof. its just no longer on the same level of some of the other top tier builds. and i don't think that it should be, despite the fact that i seem to play the class the most. i dont like that they nerfed it, but i can totally understand why they did it.

and you better expect them to neuter mosaic pretty hard after ladder ends too. its definately going to happen. but hopefully the nerf wont drop the martial arts assassin back into a useless meme build like it was for like the last 20 years. but right now this is the new OP version of the S2 blizz sorc multiplied by 3 lol. its insane how it is right now.

Just ribbing.

Agreed, S2 Cold Sorc was absolutely busted and there was no reason to play anything else. I had a well geared Hammerdin and rerolled as soon as that Cold Sunder dropped.

Martial Arts has been dog shit in PvM since I started playing so I wouldn't mind a few ladders where Mosaic doesn't get obliterated. I get that it's relatively cheap (2 Mal, 2 Gul) and can slap it any claw but it will never be a starter build and if you're min maxing you want a really good base with +skills.

yeah with all the other gear you need its definately no starter build. i wouldnt even use it without enigma

the only reason ive been playing around in league was to try to hunt down a decent set of claws for mosaic. at first i wanted to rock the MA Sin for myself, but i figure theyre gonna nerf it, and joining a game with somebody using it, it was brighter than the sun. theres no way i want to play like that for hours at a time. so screw it im just gonna try to farm up some claws hoping i can trade it for other runes and stuff that i could use and then bring it into non ladder after.

this ladders pretty much a writeoff for me. the rest of the runewords all kinda suck and im not interested in. i dont really see a whole lot of purpose to play in ladder anymore. i felt like that at season 2 as well. i ended up playing just to get a sunder charm for my cold sorc but ended up riding it out because of how hilariously broken it was after i pieced everything together in like a week or two.

I got used to the visual clutter in PoE so it's like how Neo just sees the Matrix as code.

Played a decent amount this season before hopping to D3 for a week; then to Last Epoch for the multiplayer test. Crucible league in 2 weeks. Good year for ARPG fans.

ive dumped over 3000 hours into POE so far according to steam. for a while that game was consuming my life.

How is POE2 coming along? You put much time into it, or any? I'm waiting for the full release.

+1 for this. Really curious. It obviously had a great foundation and the combat was in a solid state. But the balance of the boss battles were a complete slog.

i spent the first few opening weeks into early access and got into mapping and stuff. ran a couple characters through campaign. it's got alot of quirks to it and compared to the sandbox of POE1 it's got a ways to go if it wants to stand on the same pedestal.

there's some new mechanics they've added that's cool and everything but content-wise it's still got a ways to go if it wants to be on the same page as POE1. and the crafting system seemed pretty much non-existant. just slam exalts on whatever you find and that's it. i can go on about it, but the kind of crafting options and methods in POE1 and the build diversity just kicks the piss out of this.

in a few years after full release i'm sure that things will be different and more content will be added and i am hopeful for it. but right now as it stands POE1 still runs circles around it. but it took a long time for that game to get where it is as well. POE2 still had more early access launch content than POE1 did for the first few years.

i'm still hopeful for it. but in my humble opinion it's just not quite there yet.

Bump. @idrankyourbeer you still play?

i took an extended break from it and i'm afraid that if i start up again i'm not gonna be able to put it down for a while. that will be the end of my summer!

i kinda want to finish some baldurs gate before i get back to diablo and path of exile. been chipping away at the oblivion remaster and some monster hunter world as well on the side. i have an insane backlog of other games i want to get back to as well. but yeah D2R and POE will always have a warm place in my heart.

Appreciate the details, thx man! I really liked what I saw with the weighty combat, but want it to be more of a complete game by the time I fire it up.
