Derrick Lewis doesn't get the recognition he deserves in here

Lewis is under rated as fuck, especially his physical abilities. He's got way better cardio and flexibility than people expect also we all know he can stop anyone with his power.

The only entertaining thing about Derrick Lewis is how much of a beating he can take before he either succumbs to cardiac arrest or lands one big haymaker because of his retard power.

Yeah he doesn't getting enough recognition for being mandhandled by Ilir Latifi for nearly 9 minutes in February before inexplicably being handed the win.

Then he fought senior citizen Aleksei Oleneik.

What else are you looking for people to recognize him for?

It's because Shaq made him look like a manlet in that pic. Manlets get no respect on sherdog

With his upcoming fight against Blaydes this weekend, I'm surprised no one is talking about him at all.

Sadly, Lewis doesn't get the recognition he deserves. As of now, he's the one and only most entertaining fighter in the division, the only top HW today who actually shows up and bang it without hesitancy and take absolute any fights without delay just for the fans. You don't see that with others anymore.

Yet, he's treated like he's some bum. Why is that? Do you realize he's only 1-2 fight away from getting the title shot again?
Apparently, being entertaining and showing up and banging without hesitancy isnt what get recognition these days.

Even on a technical front, his breakthrough in defensive BJJ about "just stand up from guard n-worda" is worthy of respect and admiration, especially since so many "world class black belts" struggle with it in observable reality.

Probably the most underrated fighter on Sherdog imo. People say he shows how much HW's have regressed, but I genuinely think if you teleported him somehow to the PRIDE HW division, you'd be shocked at how well he did.

He has great power which he carries through the whole fight, very tough to submit, very good at getting back up, strong as fuck and some of the nastiest ground and pound the history of the sport.

He would be a legendary name in MMA if he fought in Pride

Should he beat Blaydes you'd have to give him props. He's going to be on his back for so much time early that if he's going to need a hail mary like he puled against Volkov to win. Imagine he'll be more tired than the Volkov fight too given he'll have to exert that much energy to keep getting back up.

"Do you realize he's only 1-2 fight away from getting the title shot again"

Which tells us how shitty HW is, which also tells us why he gets the amount of recognition he does. He should actually be grateful for the amount he gets.

Blagoi should have won too

This should functionally be a title eliminator.
The loser of this fight, loser of Stipe-Ngannou, Rozenstruik, and winner of Overeem-Volkov should be matched up in interesting ways to see who gets the next title eliminator.

Derrick Lewis is still pretty shit though. But hey, respect the bang

He uses whatever technique that works, like the shimmy shake and his ground escapes, a true student of bruce lee in a sense. One of the most interesting fighters to watch.

Derrik is entertaining in short bursts. I tend to prefer watching pressure fighters. He can be fun to watch, but he defines the potential to underwhelm. And sometimes I get the feeling that he doesn’t take his career seriously. Not trying to bash the guy, I wish him the best. Just offering a counterpoint.

Dude, have you watched his fights? He had asbolute snoozefests against Ngannou, Ivanov and Latifi . He got schooled by DC and starched by JDS. He's not even really entertaining in the cage.

All of his hype comes from Travis Brown and Volkov where he gave a fun unexpected finish and good punchlines in the post fight interview. That's not much.

Derrick Lewis could well be a legit world champion if he can address and sharpen up his takedown defence and stop accepting bottom position when it hits the ground.

There isn’t a bigger hitter in all of MMA imo, not through 15 minutes anyway. He carries his power far longer than Ngannou does, even if he isn’t quite as destructive early on.
